Looking for ideas for a bad *** wall clock. Would like in fairly good sized, lighted a plus. Could be digital or analog hands, both are cool. I have 120v waiting for it. Going in 40X60 12-14' up a wall. Thanks

No idea if you can buy them though! lol! :lol_hitti

I've also seen a dial indicator version, that would be pretty easy to make.

Cant find a pic though.

I have something like 4 hanging on my walls. Kind of like tin signs. I just seem to collect them. Got an old Craftsman saw blade clock, one from my credit union from when they first started out 20+ years ago, Dyna Systems from a sales rep and a Levitra that came from a drug rep through a urologist office. A co-worker walked in one day and gave me that one as a joke.

I'm partial to a "build your own" made from scraps and gadgets and worn out tools that bring a smile to your face. Much better conversation piece.

The best shop wall clock is the one that indicates you still have time to mess around in the shop!

Incorporate a clock into a large map (state, country, or world). Mark places you've been or add something to the map as a way to remember your travels. It will evolve over time and be a good conversation piece for visitors.

Here's a snowmobile head I machined out and turned into a clock, kept above my tool box.

After seeing the "two dogs *******" clock in a Woody Allen movie, I've had my eye out for one.....no luck so far. It was like the Elvis jiggly legs clock.

Now I want a giant caliper clock! How about a dial version that shows the minutes on the dial, and the hour on the beam as it opens? Have to figure out a way to make it reverse at 12 hours. AM hours on one side of the beam; PM hours on the other side as it returns.

I had a nice one for a while my ex had bought it for me paid a good penny too. Had a neon blue outer circle looked great in the garage especially cool after most the lights were off. Was a ************* though. the motor crapped in short order and the paper background curled in the humidity.

Its still hanging there but the only thing that works is the neon

I would like new garage clock

Anybody want to post links to some cool clocks... motorcycles, cars, tools etc? :D

My pal at the motorcycle has an awesome one its a full size motorcycle tire with bright yellow clock inside, Continental Tires. Been hanging up there for as long as I can remember (we put a new motor in last year)

I live a few miles from their shop. I didn’t know they sold merchandise.

I don't lie any of the clocks on this page, the #1 most important thing about a clock is to be easily read and functional- white face, black hands. I've ditched several "cool" clocks because I couldn't read them at a glance.

I especially dislike the Martin clock above.

Current clock is white/black with a neon ring around the exterior.

If you're going to have a clock, have a clock. This is what I prefer...

Best clock I ever had was a clock from WalMart. Big face, and you never had to change it in the Spring or Fall, did it automatically. Wind slammed the mandoor shut one day and the clock dropped off the wall and busted it. It actually ran two years without changing the battery. Man I miss that clock.

But if you want to make a clock, go to Hobby Lobby or someplace like that and get the works. Find a hubcap or whatever and make one, and make it unique.

The clocks dials in the pictures are restorations for a courthouse, run by a very large tower clock movement. However, I'm sure he could make you a dial and hands to your desired size and spec out a clock movement to mount behind it. He mostly does restorations, but ultimately man of the dials and hands end up getting made from scratch.

Here's his website:
https://www.thetowerclockcompany.com/

It's best to call him and talk to him in person. If you email it might take him a bit to get back to you.

PM me if you can't get through. I talk to him about every day.

Sears had those huge clocks up here going for $60 when they were closing up
Kids gave me a Dollar store clock 20 years ago. Works fine. New double A battery every year or so

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
I decided to go with something I can use that I can see from across the shop in low light, and if it breaks when it falls off the wall I can spend another $9.95 at Wallyworld to replace it. YMMV, but analog hands are a lot easier to make out than digitals - the ceavat being, of course, you can read a clock face (I was surprised to find out how many younger (like Gen Z) people cannot.)

I've had a "Mixed Up Clock" on the wall in the garage for around 15 years. Very few people have ever noticed the wacko numbers.

I've got a sidewall from a 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw that I plan to use as a surround for a clock, 15" wheel opening. Haven't nailed down how I want the wheel opening to look yet.

I made this for a buddy that has a Ferrari Challenge car....it's a ceramic disc that he changed out and was going to throw away.

(if this isn't visible, someone will need to remind me how I'm supposed to make Imgur images work in here....)

Super nice, I checked out the link. Hands look a little hard to read though.

Well I might be a little biased since I designed them, but I think the Overkill OverTime and DoubleTime clock kits are pretty perfect for the shop and home!

Overkill Clock Kits Link

I designed these for my customer to be a weld-it-yourself kit, but he also sells them fully welded. Here's a couple renderings I made of the models:

I am very close to retirement. My work requires constant timekeeping.

In my shop I am going to put a clock which has no hands so that I remember that time is no longer that important.
