Pavers installed no joint sand yet - worry about rain?

Hi, by end of wednesday should have my 300 sq.ft of new pavers laid. Traditional install, solid base of gravel and then 1" sand. Trouble is there is about 1" rain forecasted for Thursday, likely before I can get the joint sand in. Should I cover the pavers to prevent washing out? I can scrounge up some tarps but not sure if I need to worry about it.

With that much, I would cover it. Showers would be ok, but that's a bit much. Using polysand as filler I assume?

Had the same problem with pavers around my pool as the pool was an irregular shape and took several days to get the pavers cut and in place doing the job alone. Much larger than your 300 sq ft. I bought a huge piece of clear plastic from Home Depot and covered it every night, laying pavers on it to keep wind from blowing it away. A cheap and effective solution. Buying the plastic on line would be even cheaper.

Definitely cover it…don’t want to wash out your work and have to start over

The first time I laid pavers the ones I laid first "moved" or shifted a little as I was placing more.
I started doing the joints part way as I go (so I get some sand in a few rows back from the side I'm working).

lol. thanks for the feedback. tarped it all in, will see how much we get in the next few days. Supposed to be dry for 3-4 days after so that will be perfect to get the joint sand (poly) in
