Anyone’s tool truck guy or girl giving out jackets this year? Mr. Snappy is giving those of us with active truck accts(in good standing and no missed payments) heated jackets, Cornwell is giving out letterman style jackets also to those in good truck accts, Mac and Matco havnt mentioned anything so i don’t know if they are, highly doubt it though

It is a bit early for the jacket deals

Most of the dealers I have had, it was like a 13 week deal. Raise your payment $5 and don't miss one.

The thirteen weeks catch thanksgiving, Christmas and new years. There will always be days missed due to the holidays and what days they fall on. Usually is a good time for the dealer to get a few days off, and a day or two for them to do inventory.

Get the jacket for not missing a payment, and they can sort of enjoy some time off.

I have so many off them, and they are different from year to year. Some fit great, some not.

A few years ago I gave a bunch of them away, that had been hanging, away for Christmas. Most of the guys in the family are my size. The one guy that is much smaller than the rest got a t shirt, socks, hat and sweatshirt. His wife wears most of it.

My Snap-on dealer hasn’t said anything about it yet. Never had been on a Snap-on truck till this shop so we will see what happens. Hopefully he gets some beanies and socks in too. He finally got some pocket screwdrivers in which I will be getting tomorrow or Tuesday.

I had not been on a snappy truck before this shop either, he has been good to me, I wasn’t planning on buying those power blue pliers I mentioned before, but the fact that I got that discount and got my name on the board for the jacket was good for me haha, (we won’t get the jackets until around thanksgiving, but he let us know a few weeks ago that hw was handing them out.

That’s great. I got my Power Blue screwdrivers in yesterday. Everyone in the shop is jealous of them I gotta keep my eye on them. 🤣

It's likely a bit early, some guys will be getting them in soon.

I don't understand why people laugh about branded merchandise. I just stagger a purchase if I want something like a "free" coat. Which I then wear all winter for a couple years at work, utterly destroy it, and still have the products I foolishly bought to receive this very warm consumable coat. Products, which I already wanted to purchase, and would have purchased with no included coat. Thus, my clever planning and calendar observation nets me a "free" coat, which is actually of no direct cost to me.

Do you guys need coats in NM? Figured you'd get some summer-wear.

Yes it’s early, our snappy man got orders of sample jackets in, just to let us try on and see what size we need. Those that will be give. To us will be here around thanksgiving week, I’m staggering purchases now too, as I’m only a lube tech I don’t NEED YET, much in the way of tools, however I’m not planning on being a lubie forever, I’m buying now to help down the road, and I don’t need much of a coat here in Albuquerque, wind breaker or hoodie most of the time for me, however if I go home to my Rez or wife’s Rez, yeah I’ll wear a good coat, city winter is much different than Rez winter hahaha

Heck if I did get one I couldn’t wear it at work lol. They require you to be in full uniform at all times so you have to wear the one they provide but I could wear it anytime I’m off and then people always talk to you in public because they see an expensive jacket lol 😂.

When they keep the place above 60, we can talk about uniform policy. IDGAF, fire me and fix the cars yourself. LOL

Yeah we have a strict policy. At least our uniforms are short sleeve cause I get hot easy. We have air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. It would make my job so much easier if we didn’t have to wear something over our face as well. 😒. And my driver said this year he won’t be giving away the coats cause it cost him over $30,000 last year for all three of his trucks but I can understand his point. Hopefully we will get something though.

Yeah, they had a strict mask policy here as well. I said IDGAF, I'm not pulling dashes and welding out rotted manifold studs with a flammable non-medical mask on my face.

Seemed like only the loser LOF people wanted to whine. If someone's car actually needed repaired they lived with it. We probably lost 2-3 WAITER oil changes due to this during peak covid. Oh no, what a loss. LOL

Ac and reliable heat seem like a nice gig. They certainly have much more leverage over you because of that, vs. My place which hovers around 60 all winter. Leverage is an incredible thing. Its everything in the world.

I was actually looking forward to the "free" Snap On coat, with purchase of course, a few years ago but the coat at the time was little more than a cheap windbreaker and you had to increase your balance by $25/week on the truck, came out to $600 total. I bought the battery pack heated jacket for $250/ea and had a better coat for cheaper. I could see getting the coat if it was a carhart style one like the previous ones but not the new style. For work coats I just go to the thrift stores in early fall and buy a couple of them.

I really like they new style. Their carhart style were always too short in arm and body length, but too bulky on the torso. That said, I'm 6'2 and 180lb. The carhart style also was harder to keep from staining.

I think my dealer has the same ones. I've still got last years going strong. Maybe they'll do a promo and I'll get another as a spare.

Is it carhartt-like material, woven? Or does it have the polyester water proof shell?
