Yeah.... the PM21 Walden set has that weird "egg carton" green foam thing in it - presumably to keep the contents from bouncing around.
As I recall, at least two or three of mine have the insert.... not sure if they all do.
I believe I also have a 1/2" drive set here somewhere that has that same sort of insert.

d42jeep you sure that odd spinner in your first post isn't 9/32" drive?
Reason I ask is that those 39120-20 9/32" sets I have (which are going to go to Lugnutz) are missing that piece, as I recall.

BK,
You had me wondering about the spinner/extension so I checked back through my Walden pictures and found one that is fairly conclusive where I had connected it to some other 1/4” drive Walden tools. I also found some shots comparing it to my similar Williams version that came from OTG.

I found this 1/4” drive set on eBay. It had a complete set of knurled sockets and most importantly the ratchet came with the rare plug. On the down side, the spinner is unmarked with a chrome shaft and the box was repainted on the exterior with an unpleasant shade of green. I cleaned up the interior and repainted the entire box.

Going to piggyback again, Don, because we really don't have a single good general Walden-Worcester thread going (which is bizarre!).

This cadmium flex extension (7264) and universal joint (7276) are both 9/32-inch drive, and they both have a martial "U.S." mark. They were two of several 9/32-inch drive tools I spotted in a Simonsen Type II military cantilevered box this morning.

Interesting! I didn't know anybody made universals in 9/32".

I spotted these at the swap from a good 100' away at the swap and set off on a dash. Thinking I was about to score some Plombs, I was let down but then surprised to notice that they were hex drive. Anybody seen these before?

I hope you grabbed those.

(still looking here.)
Thanks for the reference. I did pick them up. I checked for some other drive tools but no luck. I did pick them up. Couldn't pass on them for $15!

So you have sockets and what appears to be the little drive adapter?

I've never seen any of those other than on those catalog pages and brochures.

I have the sockets and the sliding tee bar head but no bar for it.

Nice grab. Is that a Bonney ball joint socket up in the corner?

Thanks. It's an OTC. I did have a proto one as well. Are they for Chrysler's if I remember correctly?

Hmmm. Sorry for my delayed reaction to your post (#50, page 3, 2-21-2020), bonneyman, which was an even longer delayed reaction to my post (#20, page 1, 8-2-2019)... (a two-year long discussion in 3 posts! HAHA!) ..., but now that you mention it, I didn't either, and I didn't really think about it being significant or unique until now! But you're right. I can't think of another 9/32-drive uni joint.

Naive question.......(definitely not my first!) I picked up this 3/4 Drive Walden Worcester 5184 ratchet today along with a mixed assemblage of old sockets from Facebook Marketplace today. Is this thing put together upside-down? It seems to function perfectly as is. Walden1.jpgWalden2.jpgWalden4.jpg

I bought this 1/2” drive plug to use with one of my old ratchets that is missing one. When it arrived it looked like a previous owner installed a pin to stop it from sliding through the ratchet when installing a socket. I checked and I have another with the same part number but no pin.

I picked this set up off of eBay because I had never seen that style of all metal spinner in Walden before. I did a quick check of the available Walden catalogs and couldn’t find any info on the spinner. The handle pulls up and freewheels or snaps down and works like a normal spinner. It has a female drive end so it can be used as an extension. The set also came with three sockets for use with square nuts, which I’ve also never seen in Walden before.

Hey gang, here is a fun find from a recent trip to Denver, first reported in the GS thread. These were found at Surplus Tools and Commodities, and they had a few more left. They were mixed in with Soviet era boxes. Size is 6-9/16 x 2-7/8 x 1-1/4

Have not fully deciphered the sticker yet. Will update as I figure out more

These were mud encrusted, and the best looking one had chunks of mud inside.

A military repack label from 1956. Maybe Socket Wrench Set 1 Ea on the second line. The first line is the FSN. These likely came from the same location in Colorado. They had a layer of mud too.

All, any suggestions on what red is closest to the color on the above boxes? Or is it the standard: Sunset Red is close enough.
(Stripped an old CMan, pulled it out of the SG last night, gonna hold out for some nice blue to hit the supply chain again.)

I’ve had several of the red boxes, some of which I’ve passed along, but I’ve never needed to repaint one so I don’t have any paint color advice. Here are some listings showing red box sets from a couple of different Walden catalogs.
