i added 6 outlets, 8 lights "frenched" into the ceiling... insulation is R25 in the ceiling and like an R13 or so in the walls.

Great work. What is the ceiling height?

I have a low ceiling in my garage and will be doing the same thing you did.

How did you finish it around the rails for the garage door?

As a fellow "small garage" owner I love sprucing up a comfy small space like that. Good even lighting is huge in a small space I've found. The brighter it is the less it feels like a tiny cave. I'm anxious to see what you do for storage/etc. Small spaces always seem to have cool little ideas for storing things.

Very nice. I like the canned lights too, but I have a question: The joists look like they're spaced fairly far apart, like 24 to 30". Are they really? If so are you at all concerned with the weight of the OSB or did you add joists (or maybe they're closer than they appear?). Also, with the finished ceiling, will there be no overhead storage? Drop down attic ladder or anything? Nice work so far. Do you have a color scheme in mind already?

Looks very good. I like seeing the canvas get paint.

ok, the walls are 8 feet tall, 16" o.c. the exposed side is the sanded side it's 7/16" OSB. as far as colr goes, like was said earlier, light is a big deal in these "caves" so i'm going with white on the walls then i was thinking one of those black epoxy finishes on the floor covered in a silver flake! i have not finished around the overhead door yet because i think im going with a low-e all window door. i belive they are about $1,200 for a 9 X 7 at Menard's.

Love the space, gives me inspiration for my small shop... Love the idea of the mural, going with tattooed walls myself... only thing I question, you said something about black floors, it won't give you much upward reflection for low work... maybe a gray or something... just an idea...

the stuff i was looking at was a high gloss finish, i think it should be fine. were you by any chance selling a '52 buick about a year ago?

Yeah that was me, went to the neighbor of the guy's house where I had it stored... He spent about a week giving it a good tune up and I think has been driving it since...

probably wont get the heater in until next year. anybody know of a good relatively quiet portable or temporary heater?

well.... it's warming up a little around here finally! i got half the ditch dug before the frost last year for the new power.

as far as storage above the ceiling, it is only like 18" tall in the center so not much room for anything up there.

looking forward to getting this completed and getting the '51 Chevy back on the road!

Man, I hate to say this, but you will have absolutely no place to put that flathead in your garage. You better just ship it to me......

Cave looks awesome!!! You mind me asking how much $$ you have spent for the insulation and OSB ??

You like that Miller Diversion ???

I dont have exact numbers but i know im not even into this project for a grand yet.

flathead already belongs to someone else im just holding on to it! trust me ive tried that one too...

the miller is definately compact which is awesome, weighs like 50 pounds. TIG only. I have only minutes on the machine so that part i cant really comment on.
