$15.01

I doubt it's gonna cost him $15 to ship it, I'm sure the seller is fine with that deal

I don't care how you slice it that was a smokin deal, as long as it works! If not, you have bragging rights that you won something like that for $0.01 that is unheard of!

Good job there my man . . .

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I did the same thing once and the opening bid was $29 for a $1,300 Wolfe microscope. Well I won and the seller didn't want to ship it, needless to say I pressed him thru Ebay and he shipped it. Make sure you pay him A.S.A.P. if you haven't already.

I hope they don't back out. I think they'll be happy to have a few bucks of shipping money and let it go though. They didn't seem to know too much about the item to overly care about it.

That's why they make reserve's. Good score!

Reserves kill auctions most of the time. People see them and give up, assuming it is someone that overvalues their item.

Start the bid at a point where you won't be too upset if it wins at that level and be done with it. Or, gasp, start the bid at the price you want to get in the first place!

I don't know why they allow reserves, they just allow people to avoid paying fees, by paying a smaller listing fee.

Great deal for you but even if the wrench is broken I can't help but feel for that inexperienced seller. Total loss for the seller all around. Hell, Paypal fees alone to collect the shipping is 74 cents.

There's something to be said by starting certain listings at $.01 or $.99. You get a lot more folks watching your item, and in general get a higher final price. If I had a Snap-on Torque wrench to sell, ABSOLUTELY I would start low like this. But any item that not too many folks are looking for, you've got to be crazy to start this low. On something like this, you either need a reserve or a higher starting bid.

I learned this trick from one of the biggest sellers on eBay (a chain of pawn shops). They start 100% of their auctions at $.99 and had feedback in the 100s of thousands. Everything seemed to be getting very, very good final sale prices. But I guess their trick is to only auction stuff that has a good name brand that has DEMAND. If you can't always pick what you are going to sell, (for example I will part out entire tool collections; some high demand items, some not-so high), then you need to vary your selling technique based on the type of item.

We all know Williams is a quaility brand, but we here at GJ are in the minority.

It's been paid. Did that within 2 hours of close of auction.

I've got a couple of that style TW. A bullet proof design if there ever was one. Nice thing is it does both visual and sound for the torque reading. Took me a while to figure out the sound feature. Not a problem about resetting to zero after use either. One of the best torque wrenches I have used.

I think this one make 6 of this style or similar. Had to help a friend do a head gasket in a KOA type campground once. About 1000 miles from my tool box...

This one will go in the travel tools for sure.

I can't reall complain about the price either!

Read a thread on a Dodge Challenger forum that a guy won a basically brand new 09 Challenger SRT8 for like $26,000 in a no reserve auction from a dealership and they gave him HELL. Might just have to log in there to see if he ever got it for that price...

Just hope the seller doesn't back out with some lame excuse.

I've had that happen to me a few times as you "think" you are the big winner, then the seller doesn't send the item. Sure if you go through the trouble of a Paypal claim, you get a full refund, but time spent, for a refund is a joke.

But if you research the sellers record, it shouldn't happen. It has happened to me when I bid at last minute without checking out the sellers rating.

If you could do me a favor and set the thing to 3 specified torque settings from low - med - hi, and compare it to another torque wrench that you have . . .

I would be interested in knowing the results of the torque . . .

I have won a couple of nice things for 99 cents, and to make me feel even worse, they cost more to ship than the seller charged. They actually lost money by selling. I felt bad, but a deal is a deal.

In my eye's that says a lot about your character, always thinking about others first! But, the reality is that no one made them list the items for what ever it was, they did so on their own and knowing it could be a gamble.

Having said that, its business and not personal and like you said a deal is a deal!

I sold an old Stanley miter saw on eBay last year. Started it at $0.99 with $15 shipping (quoted parcel post from USPS.com).

The auction finished at like $3. Wife was going to the post office that day so I asked her to mail the package for me. She sent it Priority Mail which cost $20. Grrrr! My fault for not telling her parcel post.

Just got done grinding down a chicom socket to make an adapter to hold in a vise.

This TW is accurate across the range. 30#, 75#, 125#. All within +- 2 pounds.

I love these Williams TW's!

I trust these TW's more than any clicker I've got. Just a metal bar deflecting. If you can find one cheap, got for it. If you don't like it, I'll buy it from you!
