Thank you for the feedback.it's one of those things that when you need it, it works really well, especially on things like finishing nails
I would disagree and think you actually prove my point: the best looking RX7 was a knock off of the Lotus Elite, just as the Miata was a copy of the Lotus Elan, and the original Lexus LS was a clone of the Mercedes S Class. The NSX was nice, but didn't hold a candle style wise to any of the other super cars of it's era. The Supra just looked like a Celica on steroids, and the S2000 looks like a Z3 to me. The Datsun Z (which I actually owned) was very nice, but I believe it was the product of a Japanese American(?). They're not bad, just few great original designs in my book. That's not the case. It's all due to economy. When Japan was in its peak, lots of really nice looking cars that are different from western designs. RX7, NSX, Supra, S2000 etc. Some of those Honda FWD cars are also very classic. But their economy tanked soon afterwards and they lost their design confidence. At the end of the day, it's about the economy, then culture, and everything else will follow.
Rx-7, First and third generation Celicas, 240Z, WRXs, and those joint Toyota/Subaru sports cars are an argument against that statement. Of course, they were all built/scaled for Bilbo Baggins and the rest of the Hobbits to drive.I agree Japanese cars are fairly plain Jane.
Bilbo Baggins drives a Japanese car?Rx-7, First and third generation Celicas, 240Z, WRXs, and those joint Toyota/Subaru sports cars are an argument against that statement. Of course, they were all built/scaled for Bilbo Baggins and the rest of the Hobbits to drive.
No, Bilbo is a tiny little Hobbit. Most of the Japanese and Korean cars are scaled for small drivers.Bilbo Baggins drives a Japanese car?
...the RX series doesn't resemble the elise or anything made by lotus and also predates the elise by 25 years.I would disagree and think you actually prove my point: the best looking RX7 was a knock off of the Lotus Elite
I said Elite not Elise, it was a car from the 60's...the RX series doesn't resemble the elise or anything made by lotus and also predates the elise by 25 years.
That makes even less sense, the elite was a 1000lbs kit roadster. The later elite was a bertone inspired wedge.I said Elite not Elise, it was a car from the 60's
the chinese are already producing 3x more vehicles than the USWe have all read it. Most of us know it. The Chinese are CAPABLE of making anything to any quality level. But, it will cost more than their rubber dog ****. American manufacturers command the Chinese to make cheap **** for very little cost so they can sell it to us at a hugge profit. Don't confuse American greed with Chinese ineptitude. They can do anything that a customer is willing to pay for...
Just see what happens when the Chinese really start making automobiles.
No, it was a production vehicle and not a kit, maybe you're confusing it with a Bradley GT or something else? In any case it's the styling I was referring to and how Asian manufactures often steal styling cues from western automakers. You seem defensive and argumentative, maybe to make up for your confusion and mistakes, but I have no interest in playing that game, so I'm done here. That makes even less sense, the elite was a 1000lbs kit roadster. The later elite was a bertone inspired wedge.
Your mom bought cheap trash and that means China is incapable of producing quality without foreign IP/involvement?
Since this thread is about Chinese tools, I'd like to say that it is much better to keep your home mortgage, verses paying it off by selling investments.
China developed Mars Rover, space station, jet engine and hypersonic rockets already. What other proof you need and how many other countries can do the same? It's all done in the past 40 years. Name another big country that can catch up so quickly? Now extrapolate that to the next 20 years, you get the picture.Been to China many times for business and have seen all types of Chinese manufacturing, so I would say my world view might be more informed then most. While items bought on wayfair that were competitively priced to named branded counter parts weren't a great example, comparing those products to well established competitors is a great lesson in just how far China trails many other countries.
Can they produce great products, that answer is obvious and has been proven. But what most won't disclose is how much work it takes get that ball rolling.

Well, I do no think US, or other countries, gave the IP to the mars mission, or taught China military how to make hypersonic rockets. You've heard about the little issue of intellectual property recently?
Which RX7 are you talking about? I am referring to the 2nd gen RX7.I would disagree and think you actually prove my point: the best looking RX7 was a knock off of the Lotus Elite, just as the Miata was a copy of the Lotus Elan, and the original Lexus LS was a clone of the Mercedes S Class. Yes, was talking about the 2nd gen RX7, but comparing it to the 1st gen Elite instead of the 2nd gen you posted a pic of. Here it is: https://revsinstitute.org/the-collection/1962-lotus-elite/#gallery-2Which RX7 are you talking about? I am referring to the 2nd gen RX7.
You got to be kidding me that there is any similarity between this one and the Lotus Elite.
As to vehicle design, not everyone like the flashy Italian design. To my eyes, RX7, NSX, Supra and S2K are just about perfect. 240sk is also handsome, but a bit plain. For FWD drive cars, the first gen TSX and some early Civics are great. For recent cars, Infiniti G37 are very attractive.
Stealing technology is not something that the Chinese invented, but that ship might be setting sail nowadays anyway. You've heard about the little issue of intellectual property recently?
Isn't that a third gen rx7?Which RX7 are you talking about? I am referring to the 2nd gen RX7.

Integra is a Civic variation. I agree it looks great. In fact, all generations of Integra look great.Isn't that a third gen rx7?
Don't forget the dc2 integra type R, fantastic handling and great looking car.
I have had and been using those nail puller pliers for over a year. I used it several times (several times as a makeshift hammer)... I also used that "bump" as a prybar with a hammer. It barely shows usage.Have those Cresent nail puller pliers on my ”maybe buy” list haha. How you like them?
The 30% off coupon (everything under $10, for the last weekend) was on the front page of HF website, which I noticed when checking the availability of the masonry tool set.Where did you find a 30% off coupon?
My garage runneth over... Acquired an additional Craftsman box full of tools, many of whom were rusty. I cleaned all but the worst and began sorting. If it wasn't made in the USA it went in a bucket.I broke these channel lock copies at work while trying to close the little ring on the key chain. I think it was a 1 handed deal too. They were 16" or 18".
Don't remember when this broke.
I broke both die handles trying to cut threads with a $5 swap meet 50 piece chinese T&D set. It seemed like a deal and I didn't have a full set of metric. After this I tried welding the handle together and then the die broke. I had to go out and find a good set. Got a Hanson/Irwin set and it cut the same threads like butter.
I end up with a few chinese tools when I buy a lot somewhere. I then sort them out and stick them in a junk drawer to use for welding or to give away. I don't have to buy many tools as I have most of what I need already.
Ah, the chinesium pot metal! ... lethal that stuffWay back, sometime in the late 80's or early 90's I overtightened a humongous Chinese vise.
The dang thing blew up.
Just exploded and sent a pot metal bullet into the wall behind.
Good thing that chunk of metal didn't fly forward and hit me in the head!
I wish I had a picture of it.
Stupid Chicom vise was hanging off of the work bench in two or three pieces
Anyway, that crappy piece of Chinese pot metal was replaced by a smaller USA made vise.
Which, by the way, is still going strong.
And.....won't blow up in anyone's face. I don't use cheater bars any more. ;-)
Thank you.The 30% off coupon (everything under $10, for the last weekend) was on the front page of HF website, which I noticed when checking the availability of the masonry tool set.
Both set were priced at $9.99 and the 30% off coupon was applied.
The quality seems very good. Even without the coupon, it's plain unbeatable value.
An easy problem to solve. Hire Pininfarina to design the bodies. Let the French and the Italians do the styling and the Chinese build and bolt the **** together. Works for Milwaukee doesn't it? With respect to Japanese and Korean cars to me they look exactly like similar American and European cars since all modern cars come out of wind tunnel tests they all look identical. The only unique identifying feature on any of them is the grill.Even if they do make the best cars ever I'd bet they'd be so ugly you'd never want to own one. Asian manufacturers are great at copying and reproducing things, but poor at innovation and being unique, especially with Western design and aesthetics. Even Japanese cars after all these decades are boring at best. Korean cars not really better; they'll probably combine design elements from a host of cars in what will ultimately be a Frankenstein mess
