Like other's have said; the retailer probably mistakenly used the 'CARB' reason not to ship rather than the far more likely CA Prop 65 reason. Meanwhile, an ever growing number of non CA based retailers are refusing to do business with CA.

Meanwhile, if you absolutely need that quick-disconnect now, then I'd just go buy something suitable from a CA retailer.

When I worked in industry we we put the cancer label on every product without a thought. Most of our products were just plain steel, but California wanted an insane amount of testing to avoid the label. A few useless words added to the label was free. It also makes the stupid law completely worthless.

Yep, CA requires that a 'Prop 65' warning label must be placed on virtually every non-food item that's sold in the State. Meanwhile, for weeks on end the people in S. Idaho and those in other CA border states, were forced to breath the worst smokey air I've ever seen in my 60+ years due CA's forest mismanagement policies of the last 20+ years.

Just tried ordering some via Amazon, no issues. However, no one I know uses M style these days, we all use T style. But we have adapters to adapt M to T & T to M.

Any benefits to T? They flow the same as M at 40 SCFM.

Where in the fittings is there lead?
I think someone posted the correct answer previously.. it may have even been me !

Fittings are produced on screw machines, in high volumes. To facilitate machining they use what is generically referred to a free machining steel. The steel has a high lead content, which allows the chips to break off in small, easily disposed of pieces, when the piece is machined. It’s a cheap, low strength, but easy to machine steel.

Unfortunately, lead causes health issues, which is why the products are flagged.

Note that this entire regulation is listed as a Proposition, which seems to indicate it was a voter driven initiative, so perhaps all the bellyaching is unwarranted.

It was a voter-driven proposition that passed in... wait for it... 1986. I had to sit through a day-long training program which included the labeling requirement that came much, much, much later.

Not to give everyone another thing to hate, but there is about to be another giant product-chemical mandate coming that involves 99% of all consumer goods currently being sold in the world today.

Not really. Speaking from the point of view of someone who designs these things I see only negatives as it makes it near impossible to produce a coupler that handles both plug styles equally well.
The coupler discussed here might be rated at 40 SCFM but it can not handle that flow without a significant pressure drop.
