Drove to AutoZone earlier, there was a guy out front doing a brake job on his Charger in the parking lot...
I did a front brake job ( pads only ) on my 95 ram p/u at a rest stop outside el centro , ca. had my cordless tools and floor jack and stands so not too bad. when you drive a POS 2nd gen ram you need to be able to fix it at any time sadly.

So slowly making progress on getting the first shop completed before the 1200' addition shows up on the 8th. I added a couple Apple HomePod Mini's to the TV in my shop and my AppleTV. I went this route so when I am working on vehicles and using YouTube, I can use Siri to pause, fast forward, rewind, etc. So far it has worked out awesome when working on the suspension for my neighbors 4Runner.IMG_8210.jpg

Finished painting the welding cart.

Then I finished putting everything back on the new shelf. I also rearranged part of the shop to reuse one of the shelves I replaced with the new big one.

Here's the welding cart

Here's the shelf setup I started with.

Bit of pre-snow season outside cleanup . Then finished Striping the dump trailer to a trailer only frame . Next i set the 525 gal sealer tank on it to start to get a idea how it wants to go together.

I reorganized the GPA tools in the small wood Pilliod machinist box, removed a few dupes and got everything organized better and fitting better. I'm still on "Light duty" post op for the left eye cataract for a few more days...

Not a lot of time spent in the garage this weekend, but I did manage to clean up some kitty accidents from under the boat (cat was banished to the garage while the loft got treated for fleas). I also installed one of two new infrared heaters, and hung up a box buddy hitch keeper on the wall to free up some cabinet space (for $6.16 on clearance, why not!?).
On the to do list this week:
- more cleaning and organizing to try and make the workshop semi functional despite having both boats inside.
- try to remove the bit of broken torx bit from my drill and replace the chuck with the cheapie I found at Princess Auto today
- winterize the outboard and remove it from the boat
- hide Xmas gifts.

Wish me luck!

Finally started to put my mess away. Started my kitchen remodel in early Sep, nearly done now. I've had tools out, material and scrap stacked, a project vehicle for my kid in the way, a borrowed mini scaffold collecting stuff, and have yet to start stripping all the wiring and metal that came out from demo. Thats all in the way of two other projects I have yet to finish...because I can't get to them. In my defense (read that as excuse) I've also had an influx of friends and family needing help on their vehicles lately. Like a crazy amount. And more side work to come. Told the wifey I need a bigger garage...she just rolled her eyes.

I did manage to put all of my tools back where they belong and get a bunch of trash and recycling sorted out and put by the road. That alone felt good. I hate when my tools aren't were they belong and **** I don't need piles up.

Tomorrow, with any luck, all the scrap metal will be stripped down and put in the collection bin so I can at least sweep. But, as usual, I have two friends vehicles to look at, a part to pick up to put in another friends vehicle, my father's tractor to look at, and I have to drop off one of my 19 y/os at the Army recruiters office at 1200. He leaves for boot and I already miss him but am damn proud of him too. Not sure yet why he chose the Army over the USAF, but proud none the less. That also means there is one less kid in the house to contribute to the messy garage..and one less person I can blame.

I have been doing fall clean up:
Move a bunch of stuff from this area and put it in that area.
Take stuff from that area and put it in this area.
Repeat.

OT, but back in the late '70s a friend and I pulled up to an aftermarket motorcycle parts and service place only to notice a customer changing the center piston and rings, etc, on his mid '70s or so Kawasaki H2 750 Triple. Friend said "hey, you can't do that in a dirty parking lot like this". Guy ignored him while I suggested to my friend that he not say anything (this was in Oakland CA).

Few years back I was at my usual Sunday haunt (RockStore) & some guy had both cams out of his CB750 or 900 in the parking lot. He got a few pointed comments from the non-Honda owners. Had it all buttoned back up after about 3 hours. I forget the issue, I think he said the cam chain had jumped a tooth. :)

I opened the hood on the '11 Camaro today*... & instantly regretted it. Then I remembered driving about 3 or 4 miles down a High Desert dirt road a couple of weeks ago frown.png

An hour of rags (yes, sacrificed a few more of the shop rag quality MF's), assorted squirty stuff, Horrible Fright 1 & 2in bristle brushes, shop vac with various doodads on the business end etc & I have it looking decent again. Even attached one of the small brush doodads intended for sucking PopTart remnants out of your keyboard to get the snarge out of nooks & crannies. Put some shiny stuff on the tires.
It's all tickety boo now.

What it really needed was taking outside, spraying it down under there with *something* & a hose etc. That will happen next time.

*I was at the smog test place, it passed, getting the new '23 tag later from the vending machine at Albertsons supermarket. Have to wait a couple of hours for the computer system to update to say the car passed.

Found an outlet that my contractor forgot to install in the ceiling; he’s going to get that put in, no problem. Going from 6 outlets to a total of 15- can’t wait to have such convenient access to power through the garage!

Rolled our regular and recycle trash bins into our garage. Placed them both were they would be in my way for the day. It's about the only way to get me to fill them somewhat from the hoard I've got going on garage wise. Made some headway, but not that much. Now I just need to roll then out before the wife tries to pull into her 'stall' when she gets home from work. Yep, that's the highlight of my retired life most of these days. Yawn...

Went to run to town today and had a no start on my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9 liter Cummins diesel. Tested my batteries and found they were the original batteries from 2004. I then decided not even to waste my time testing them and pulled them both. I then grabbed the Chevrolet Equinox and went into town and stopped in at Autozone and got two new 850 CCA batteries. Reinstalled them and then pulled in the scanner cleared the codes then drove the truck for a hour to fully charge the new batteries. The date code on the old batteries was 6/2004 so I got the truck four years ago with 124,000 miles and have put on 25,000 miles. Oh well no surprise and I bumped up to 850 CCA from he old batteries 750 CCA.

TRYING to clean up and organize.
Made some holders for the Milwaukee collection. Above the main box...

If I were to hang my scissors like that I am positive I would get stabbed by them. A couple screws on the risers would be my choice, one for handle and one for the poker end.

My Dad brought over his 1990's Echo PB-210E. He claimed it wouldn't start. I dumped out the old sticky fuel and put some fresh stuff it it.
Then I check for spark with my spark test light. I could see any signs of a spark so I figure the ignition coil was bad. I took it all apart and cleaned everything. Searched for a new coil only to realize to find out the part has been discontinued. Not too surprised since this thing is 32 years old. When I reassembled it I noticed a weak spark and found that the spring on ignition wire didn't have a good crimp. After a quick recrimp I had spark again. Tried pull starting it and it would some times catch but not stay running. Pulled the pull stater cover and adjust the gap at ignition trigger with a business card. Hooked my my cordless drill and turned it over until it fired up. Adjust the carb and she's good to go for another 30 years. BTW- I don't think my Dad EVER changed the air filter.

Is the 415k on the original drive train ? if so that is amazing.

Yes it is. The truck is original Including the drivetrain. I bought it last year from the guy who bought it new. He worked for the Georgia department of transportation so he put 410,000 miles on the truck driving it every day. It is amazing and it still rides and drives almost as if it were new. I also detailed the engine bay. A1FE0D2D-FFEC-4899-97E5-9ED5CA5B24AE.jpeg

Quote: "I bought it last year from the guy who bought it new". Could be worth more today than what you paid for back then. But you're not selling it, so this doesn't matter. Meanwhile, your truck looks like it's only 4 -5 years old.
