Wow, Lift Prices; Sticker Shock!

I started building my garage about 2 years ago. At the time Dannmar and Bendpak 10k lifts were in the $3000 range and Rotary spoa10 was about $4500, just took a look today and it seems the rotary with trio arms is $6000+ and the dannmar and bendpak are close to if not over $5000…
I was really hoping for the Spoa10 trio but it’s quite the sticker shock at this point. I use rotary spoa10 trio at work and love the quality, but I have to ask are they worth the $6000+ Or will the “cheaper” lifts do as well? I’ve not worked with a cheaper lift before.

Yeah, went to Shermin Williams to pick up a paint match, they mixed it and rang it up ,it seemed higher than last time, looked at the receipt and they tacked on a 4% supply chain charge on top of the quote, , so watch it.

Back in early June, I paid just under $4k for a 10k Forward Lift, installed. Glad I didn't wait any longer to get it.

Since we have to pay people more to get them to work, we have to raise prices. Even if we fix the supply chain issues, I don’t expect prices to drop anytime soon. It’s not like wages will also be going down. Allowing more people to
Immigrate into the country who actually do want to work would be a good first step but I don’t expect and sudden drop in wages. Maybe a longer stabilization before the next increase.

There really is a major shortage of raw materials for the paint companies. I'm a industrial customer of Sherwin and Cabot, both have stopped production of all their specialty coatings due to the lack of raw materials available, and they're having trouble finding the material for their non-specialty coatings. I'm in a position where I can't sell a painted product to my customer's right now. It *****. I've been told by my reps that they think it'll Spring/Summer, best case, for returning to normal. The store your wife went to most likely legitimately didn't have the base for the ceiling paint and sold her what they had.

I work for a chemical company. Everything we make for paint is sold out at high prices. We Can’t get railcars. I haven’t kept up with steel, but the desire to cut out China from chemical supply chain is now global. Every country is trying to do it.

I will say that it’s not obvious that there’s any trucker shortage in the eastern US.

Meanwhile, I worked full time which often included 5.5 - 6 days a week and many Holidays since I was just under 14 (restaurant work, roofer, motorcycle dealership mechanic, auto mechanic, 2 bay auto electric shop owner/operator, PC repair and data recovery shop owner/operator, etc).

I also realize that many in here worked even more hours at tougher jobs.

I am in the 'I'm tired of being screwed by everyone' camp also. Can someone explain to me where all the truck drivers went to? I understand that the gov giving benies out so hourly workers can survive w/o a job but I can't imagine that applies to truck drivers. I also don't think that many more than normal of them died, so where are they and why aren't they driving? Does anyone know why the price of steel has gone up?

Very few people want to be truckers any more. It used to be somewhat of a cool job at one time but regulations and requirements have gotten more and more difficult so lots of people are getting out of driving trucks. Then states like CA have placed emissions requirements on trucks coming into the state so older trucks can’t be used to pick up loads in CA any more. CA ports bring in gobs and gobs of goods.

Dad of a friend of mine owned a trucking company. He couldn’t get drivers so he started selling off his trucks because trucks need to move to make money and with no drivers, they aren’t moving. His best paid drivers were making $90k per year for mostly local runs with a few over night runs mixed in. He has since shut down his business because he couldn’t find drivers.

Yup. Someone put tariffs on imported steel four or five years ago.

Now we’re all wringing our hands because steel, and everything made with it, has increased in price.

You could always keep an eye out for a used one. I put the word out to my car friends and rotary spo10 with 3 stage arms and both car and truck spin up adapters that was only used a handful of times in a residential garage fell into my lap for $2500. I had to take it down though, but that only took an hour or so.

That weaver lift posted above is a good deal though IMO. That was what I was going to buy until I found a used one.
