Anyone ever see a toolbox collapse from too much weight?

My dad had a small Craftsman stack in the 70s-80s and the bottom of it buckled. It was just the cheap homeowner grade box, nothing premium, but it certainly wasn't insanely loaded with steel bars, just basic tools.

I had a husky triple stack way back when. I honestly am happy I got rid of it as the top 2 boxes werent bolted to the bottom. It was severely overloaded.

Tipping over is precisely why i have no top chest on my older 44 HF with side drawers. the 26 Hf scratch and dent I got (top box was crushed a bit) seems fine-BUT I bolted them together.

An old coworker of mine had an ultra pro stack, I want to say maybe ~30 inches wide and quite tall, made by international at the time I think, tip over on him because he tried rolling it over a large crack in the floor. The caster plate basically folded in on itself and the box fell over, he was able to straighten it out enough to still use for another couple years, he had a ton of tools in it otherwise it probably would have been fine.

Another shop I worked in the old foreman had one of those no name stainless steel boxes costco sometimes sells, full of junk that was quite literally collapsing in on itself. All the ball bearings slides fell apart and it was sagging badly in the middle.

Anout 5 years ago I had a matco 54 cabinet and one of the casters just outright fell off due to rot, the matco guy told me He couldnt get a new caster as the box was too old (10 years and they didnt even make/have a fix for it, the snap on guy came the next day and gave me 3k for a trade in. Done deal lol

That is one big advantage of Snap-on when buying used tool boxes. I was still able to get parts for 80s vintage tool boxes a few years ago. I still like older mac and matco top tool boxes, but I am pretty careful on only getting ones that are in great condition.
