I run the same one in two separate networking racks. They work really well. The screen does not like cold weather, though. The LCD froze on mine and stopped working. The controller still works, though.

I did more welding on the aquarium stand.
Well thankfully it very rarely gets below freezing here. And inside the shop, I dont think I’ve ever seen it below 50…….but definitely good to know!

Refuse to pay $150+ for a battery
installed the biggest cheepest one that fits in the 68 VW Bus. Under $60 out the door
Neverstart Value LOL. Always had good luck with batts in Generator vehicles. Last one dated 12/14. If I drove it more this year it would prolly still be alive. But the Events have been cancelled.

Just put two of those in my K20 plow truck for the winter. Where else can you buy 1200CCA for $120.00.

I pressure washed the floor of my new shop. The contractor worked through the rain a few days and left a good bit of red clay all over the slab.

I did stuff above my garage today. Wife wants me to change the light fixture in the dining room. Problem is, the builder didn't center the box on either axis of the room. The ceiling supply register is closer to center, but since we added on, its blocked off above the ceiling. So now I have to remove the duct, patch the hole, remove the ceiling box, patch that hole and cut in a new hole for the ceiling box. Moving it maybe 18".

Well our house is single story with a 6:12 truss roof. When I put the addition on I stick framed the roof. I also built a little catwalk above the insulation. I also have a rat run that goes to the other end of the house as well as attic lights in porcelain bases. (The cable guys LOVE me...)

Well, I never finished connecting the addition to the rat run. Also, I've decked part of the attic except down on that end. So I went and got 3 sheets of 7/16 OSB, a 2x6x8 (already had another) a 2x2 piece of 5/8 rock and a small pail of mud. What I should have bought is more 2-1/2" screws. I have probably 20# of 1-5/8 in phillips, square and star drive, I have black, green, tan and silver. I have mainly course thread but some of the black are fine. I have 5# of 1" fine thread black. So tomorrow after church I'll hit up orange or blue and get 5# of course thread 2-1/2".

It was also hot today up there so I ran up to my neighbor's house and started on her 10x20 greenhouse that will match the chicken/duck coop/run I built for her in 2019. Worked till dark then came back and worked until I ran out of long screws.

Started working on changing over from summer to winter. Got the snowblower out of the shed and in to the garage. Moved the patio furniture in to the shed, it goes where the snowblower was. Moved my bike in to the shed, because the snowblower goes in the garage where the bike was.

Stocked up on suet cakes for the bird feeder.

Then after a trip to the Hazard Fraught, some cardboard engineering.

Found this nicely sized “1500 lumen” light on sale for $18. Making up a bracket to mount a couple of them on my snowblower as “headlights”. Cardboard model looks ok, so now I need some time to turn it in to steel reality.

Made a disposable mini paint booth for my basement craft workbench.
It really is a just a slapped together fan holder in a cardboard box and a repurposed filter to catch paint
1113211255.jpg

I can put a larger cardboard box in front if I have to but I will be spraying mostly HO scale parts.

A old fan I had from a electronics cabinet from back in the 90's...it is a Dayton and they don't make them like that anymore!

Worked on sealing my 2008 Ford Ranger XLT with a ceramic coat sealer (used on vehicles that have Envy ceramic coating) and then I treated all the windows with "Glassparency" as my wife is a certified installer.....so I get my 100% discount, of course!
I recommend "Glassparency", much better than rain-x.

The truck looks like it can go to The World Of Wheels Car Show it is so clean and shiny!!!!
The windows even have a shine to them and should repel rain and snow, without the wipers!
I'll touch up the wheels in the morning.

Of course it is snowing outside today so she will stay parked in the garage till the weather clears.
I got my wife's 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue sitting outside under carport for emergencies...it's her winter beater...and if the truck is clean, my winter beater too! :sneaky:

Three steps closer to garage heat! Ran power up next to the furnace, bought thermostat wire (still need to figure out where to put thermostat) ordered ecobee thermostat, and bought a trailer full of craft faced R38 24" insulation from Menards (which was on clearance!!).

Day 3 of cleaning out my built in 1952, unfinished garage. Taking my time to sweep down all of the ancient dust and cobwebs along with some petrified rat droppings, I'm even cleaning the windows (most likely for the very first time). It's been a nasty, dirty project that I will be happy to have completed. I've turned 2 white dust masks brown, starting each morning with a clean one. 😷

I reorganized my HF 5 drawer cart. I had my combination and ratcheting wrenches in one of the small drawers. I bought 3 magnetic tool organizers, so now the wrenches are on the bottom side of the cart lid.

I carried(with help from my wife) a 12"x12"x6' cypress beam into the shop to install feet.
The feet are Marine Grade 4"x6" pine. They're temporary feet to place it on the patio. When she decides where she wants it permanently placed, I'll set in on galvanized metal concreted into the ground.

We carried it out of the shop to begin sanding, because the cypress make such fine dust.
I may finish it today and stain it to match the post on the house(Charwood stain by Sherwin-Williams).

Got a 2011 F150 sitting on the lift waiting for front and rear rotor and pad kits.
Failed yearly state safety inspection, corroded rotors and "sticking pads"
Thanks to the Vermont Hiway dept. liberal use of road salt. and the lack of a good chassis wash near me.
But they never saw the missing tail pipe hanger (just had that delivered late morning today) to be installed later today.

Just finished up 2007 Volvo s60 Front pads and rotors for the same reason (Pads are thick enough but the band of rotor corrosion is more than .5 inch)

Installing Cat5 cable to garage...never considered putting cable and phone in conduit when running them to the garage 25 years ago or I could have snaked the Cat5 instead of digging a trench. Good thing it's only 60'.

Built a new kitchen drawer to replace the one my wife ripped the front off of. Then did a little work on the aquarium stand.

Buddy came to visit... Brought a few things that needed fixing.
One was a 30,000BTU Kero bullet heater I gave him. I guess it has a lifetime warranty I wasn't aware of :eek7: . OLD sears model. Filter falling apart, motor needed oil etc. Set fuel pressure, cleaned spark plug and got it fired up again.
Then tells me he brought his welder and if I can look at it. Freebie little 110V flux core he trash picked.
Wire looked funny and here it had solid wire in it. Gave him a small spool of flux I've had for too long and will never use. Then find out it was apart when he got it... said something bout the wires off the SW for min & max. Gave it a test and only max worked. SW wired wrong and fixed.
Earlier in the week he asked if I could weld a plate in a mini bike frame. Of course he brought the frame too.
Well, your welder works.... So he did the welding on it here in my shop using his welder.

Did a lot today but nothing I wanted to do. All is good, glad to help him out. He helps me and today was his turn.

Finally got the top portion of my toolbox loaded up in the Escape to take to work. Wouldn’t fit with the box so I had to take it out then I put the handles on to make it easer to lift. I swear the top is heavier than the bottom and side portion was. Me and mom lifted it from my truck bed into the Escape. Tomorrow my coworkers will help me unload it just as they did for the bottom and side. And also checked all of the fluids in all of the cars and the tread depths and then was going to order tires for the beetle but went to order them and made the mistake of mentioning it to my parents who freaked out about it so I couldn’t order them 🙁. Oh well one day I’ll just do it without saying anything. The other day they seemed all for it. I guess they want their insurance money first lol. Oh yeah and washed some clothes.

Kay, do you have enough for all the steps now?
Nope. I'm kinda limited by space to producing four treads at a time. The ones I did today are the last of the one direction. In a few days they'll be hard enough to mount. The next four, or last four, are oriented in the opposite direction. And two of them are definite weirdies. Then after the treads comes decking, planking and trimming the top landing. And then there's a bit of painting afterwards.

I'm hoping to be able to overlap varnish hardening and tread blank production, to try and get my last treads complete by Turkey Day. Crossin finners.

Grabbed one of the HF 5 drawer mechanic's carts! I have one of the original 4 drawers, gonna clean it up and sell it. I really like the new design, with the gas struts, individually latching drawers, and a couple add-ons. I like the side table and the magnetic power strip. Gonna add rubber to the top, the side table, and replace the garbage foam in the drawers.

This 6ft shop bench was the only thing I got when my grandfather passed away. He had it in his shop from 1975 to 2001 when he passed. My grandmother left it untouched for several years. 2013 I asked what her intentions were with it.
She said I could have it if I wanted it. Last evening I decided it needed a new face lift. I'm hoping it'll last another 40 years.

Nigel it looks great, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of the air bag?

Why would it defeat the purpose of the airbag? The airbag is going to easily blow through the stitching if it deploys. A lot of vehicles come with leather stitched airbags. I believe the LC500 from the factory does, along with some Porsches and MBs.

Managed to stain / oil the pergola post segments for my pillar project. Keeping the rabbets raw for later gluing and screwing.

With a 4.5 inch grinder, made a free hand angled cut on 3" schedule 80 pipe and welded it together at a 90 degree angle using 7014 electrode. This was the first welding I have done in a couple of years, the welds are not pretty but they will be covered with refractory.

Felt good to have my hood on and a stinger in my hand.
