That's an oldie! Like 50+ year old thread standard. Is this on something Japanese?

There are folks online who have re-tapped a (close) 10-24 screw with a M5-0.9 die. That might be one of your few options.

Yep, M5 x .9 thread pitch sounds like something for a '60s to early '70sJapanese camera, telescope, micro-scope, or even a fishing reel, etc. If so, I'd check out such forums on such.

M5 x .9 are available.. So I am thinking that a blank bolt is the way to go.

Wow, I finally found something that McMaster doesn't have. They do have taps and dies in that size though. Good luck,

Wow! An M5 x 0.9 does sound like a rare bird! But here's a guy back in 2011 that had a similar problem to you and he "rethreaded" some 10-24 standard screws:

A 0.9mm thread pitch is 28.222 threads per inch.
