Looking at buying a set of angle wrenches and my Cat parts guy says he can get me 13/16 to 1-1/4 for $200. But my question is are these still relabeled Snap-on's or did they find a new manufacturer?

I don't have an answer for you. I know CAT rebrands Snap-on and Williams stuff, and the angle wrenches used to be Snap-on rebrands but I'm not sure now. The only CAT tool I own is their rebranded Williams ratchet screwdriver which uses Snap-on's internal mechanism.

CAT does a terrible job of communicating anything when it comes to their tools. Their listings are either hidden behind account walls or the listings tell almost nothing about the tools or the prices. After doing a few quick searches, I couldn't find a pdf hand tool catalog for them either.

All I could find after a quick search is that the set you are thinking of buying is CAT part number 233-1636. Here is the listing for it.

Maybe someone on GJ with a CAT account can use the part number to find more information for you.

As a side note, I'm not a huge fan of Tekton, but I noticed they are now making and selling USA made angle wrenches. I don't know how they compare to CAT, Williams, or Snap-on quality wise, but they are 30/60 degree wrenches like Snap-on (which is hard to find). The same set you are looking for would cost a little under $200 delivered from the Tekton website. Maybe someone here on GJ knows more about the strength/quality.

They are Snap On, 100%. They also have a selection of larger sizes (like 1 3/8, 1 1/2, 1 7/8, 2” and some others) individually. All much cheaper than off the truck.

the normal combo wrenches are Williams Supercombos. Sockets are Snap On, ratchets Williams. Anything out of the tool catalog is the same way it’s all high quality and well priced because Cat wants their mechanics to have access to quality tooling.

I'm trying to think of a time I was dissatisfied with a cat tool purchase and can't think of anything. Generally fantastic prices for the quality received.

I just ordered a few tools from CAT (screwdrivers, sockets, and wrenches).

Has anyone bought the seal pick and torx drivers? Are they black hard handles?

I have bought several of the seal pick 195-4609. Each time I got a Snap-On SGA173B which has the instinct handle.

A tri-lobe style handle, with soft rubber inlaid for a better grip, known as soft grip. Also available on some drivers without the rubber known as hard grip. The soft rubber is a dirt magnet and hard to clean without liquids. For me the larger grips are just that, to big and uncomfortable. I do like the handle size that are on the #1 phillips though.

I was hoping that these other tools would be hard handle, because the Caterpillar screwdrivers are hard handle as are the socket drivers.

I opened a account with them a few weeks ago. Some of our locomotives have caterpillar engines. Have not ordered anything from them yet.

i know when we used to buy impact rebuild parts from cat parts, they used to come in blue point packaging. the wrenches look exactly like a snap on - blue point other than the letters.
