Closed our shop the end of October. Called Amerigas to pick up their 2 rented cylinders on 10/25 for pick up that Friday because it was our last day there. When they didn't show up by midday Friday 10/29, I called again and they said they'd have someone there by the end of the day. I left the cylinders outside. Came back to the shop at 8 pm and the cylinders were still outside....so I put the cylinders back inside (not wanting them to be stolen). Called the next Monday 11/1. Said they'd have someone there in 48 hours, gave them my cell phone number. Meantime called the landlord to get permission to leave tanks inside. No show again. Send email to Amerigas through contact us page. 11/3 call again. Case escalated, but get this, no one knows about the other calls? Still no show. Call 11/8...lather, rinse repeat (call escalated and email generated by person on phone) . WTF. They are a good company, just this run around to pick up 2 tanks *****.

They are not a good company!

I e-mailed them 2 weeks ago asking if I could buy my rented tank. Zip, zero, nada, nothing. Why have a "Contact" page if you're not going to read and/or answer it?

They dicked me on a job.

Was for delivery of propane as well as filling portable tanks.

Interviewed and the manager made it sound like I was well above in experience than anyone else. The job listing allowed a year to obtain a CDL even, where I've had one for years, as well as HAZMAT.

And he had darn near a ***** over me being a vet.

Told I'd get paperwork to sign in a few days.
I assumed that meant I had the job. Well, thankfully I didn't tell my current boss.

A week goes by, nothing.
Try calling his number and it's just voicemail, so I leave a msg. The office number just goes to a call center not even in the US.
Almost 3 weeks later, I get a half assed email saying to stop trying to contact him, that they hired someone else... with the tone that basically I was crazy to think I'd be able to work there.
Gee, thanks for wasting my time... ***!

Granted I've gotten similar from a fuel delivery company and the railroad.

You dodged the bullet. Would you really want to work for a jackhat that was that unprofessional. It doesn't take a lot of effort to say "We appreciate your interest in our company but we ended up going with another candidate"

next time when you call your propane company this is what you tell them. "I am giving you 30 days per labor and industries laws that you come and pick up these tanks before they become my lawful property after your 30 days are up" legally they have 30 days of the time you call to get them

I called them and emailed them for the last time 11/19. I said that I was putting the tanks back outside and that I wasn't liable or responsible for them. Also that I was done accommodating them. That was 9 AM. Just before noon, my sends me a picture of an Amerigas truck driving on the same road as our former business location....mere minutes away. Do you think they stopped.....HELL NO???? Drove by today and the tanks are still sitting where I left them.

Locally they do not have a good repretition, thats why I didn’t use them for my home generator/ propane tank. In fact, most of the generator proposals I got, the generator company went out of their way to tell me NOT to go with Amerigas. That says alot IMHO.

I worked for them 21.5 years.
I got done in 2016. Worked for a couple other propane companies after AmeriGas and I’m now retired.
They were great for years and years. But companies have live cycles.

Another AmeriGas bashing thread :lol_hitti

When they wouldn't come get my old 500gal tank I listed it on Craigslist for $100 and put the local office phone number in the ad as a contact with the reason for the listing. Must have been a lot of bored people calling in as they were there the next day to pick it up after months of just me bothering them about it.
