Interesting - so they have gone full circle back to a pressurized reservoir, for bleeding brakes.

I have two vintage bleeder tanks - One is on the wall (3 gallons IIR) and I have a number of fill "caps" for vintage cars/trucks, and the other has been converted to a refill station for camp-stoves and lanterns - it holds about a gallon of fuel - I refilled everything before leaving hunt camp last Oct after 9 days, and it still had a bit left.

Not in the garage, but the kitchen. I pulled a piece of plastic and other debris from the dishwasher pump. The wife helped me, and while we were disassembling the pump area, I showed her the highly specialized tools you need in this day and age…..lol, like a torx bit. She said yes, it saves us money, and you need to continue getting these specialized tools…….
I am now perusing the “specialized“ tool **** websites……but, I really do not need any more tools.
Wait……… did I just say that? Never mind fellas, I just had a weak moment. Carry on.

Well was going to change brother in laws brakes all the way around pads and rotors. The rotors are much overdue filled with hotspots too. Well he ordered from RockAuto and everything looked just like they do for the pads on the Escape/Mariners and they ended up being too short for the front and rear. Typed in the model number and brand on Google and they sent him pads for a Mazda Miata. So he was fuming so tomorrow I’m going to order pads and rotors from work for all the way around. At least we got two of the brake rotors free they were seized on. They were nice brakes too Powerstop brand came as a pad/rotor kit and it listed for the Mariner but not the right pads were sent. My sister won’t drive the thing because it’s pulsating like crazy. He said he can’t spend more than $400 so I’m going to see what I can get him at work probably Wagner or Raybestos is what I’ll get if AutoPlus has any. Really bummed cause I wanted to get my hands dirty today lol. We did get the air filter in though so that’s good. He is like I think RockAuto would be so much better if there website was easier to use and you could call someone to help you I told him I agree. He said he is done with that website.

Took down the Ornamental turning lathe from the overhead shelf. Giving it away to a nice young lady who wants to do woodworking. Unfortunately her car broke down and she couldn't make it. Now, I've had to find a spot for it until she can come and get it.

Oil change on the Explorer and then front brake maintenance on the minivan. About three years ago I put new pads and rotors on it and this is the second time I've had a noise complaint from the boss. The first time it sounded like the pads were shot but when I checked they were good. I pulled them and cleaned up the clips and greased everything and it went away. Same thing this time. Drove it and no noise so I guess it will last another year or so. Shouldn't have to do that so obviously I'm missing something here but I haven't figured it out yet.
Brakes are easy until they aren't.

If it's a Dodge, that's not that unusual. Filing and lubricating the slides is the path to happiness.

If they have calliper slide pins, I’d suggest cleaning them out and lubricating with fresh calliper lubricant.
Clean out the blind hole as well for each pin.

Chrysler - but the same animal. The slides seem fine but I'll remember that next time. My suspicion is that things are not moving as they should.

The CBX my dad bought in the mid '80's and I've had it for about 15 years now. It has just over 12k miles on it. He still has an '82 as well with about 10k miles that I need to go pick up at some point. I'm in the middle of getting this one running again now. Needs carbs gone through and a few other small items. I just got the tank back from GTL in Hollywood, CA since it had rust in it so I had them line it. They gave it a nice polish while they had it. Looks nice for 42 year old original paint.

The CBX my dad bought in the mid '80's and I've had it for about 15 years now. It has just over 12k miles on it. He still has an '82 as well with about 10k miles that I need to go pick up at some point. I'm in the middle of getting this one running again now. Needs carbs gone through and a few other small items. I just got the tank back from GTL in Hollywood, CA since it had rust in it so I had them line it. They gave it a nice polish while they had it. Looks nice for 42 year old original paint.

I had a '79 and a '80 CBX, sold both to my brother (at different times) who in turn traded the '79 to a mutual friend to get back his Kaw 500 triple that he had bought new when they came out. He had raced it a lot back in the day, paid it off in 3 months of street racing and held his class record at the local drag strip for a couple of years. Weighting 120 lbs. soaking wet helped a lot. The '80 I bought from a kid with only delivery miles. His Daddy bought it for him (16 and no riding experience) and he tried to wheelie it which turned out badly. The bike landed on top of him which saved the bike but he spent several weeks in the hospital which gave him time to evaluate his riding future. I rode it for several years before selling it to my brother who kept it in his living room most of the time. When he passed unexpectedly his son sold it off to finance his "I'll never have a job" lifestyle. My friend still has the '79 and I still have the 1966 BSA 650 Spitfire Mk11 that he gave me over 45 years ago.

Made a little progress on the aquarium stand. Only got the other side done. I need to process more of the mahogany so I can start on the frame for the front. Then all I have left are the two doors.

The sides didn't come out quite as nice as I hoped. The mitered corners are a PITA. One of the panels warped before I could get the rabbits and tenons cut, but you can't really tell. I'll have to figure out which side is uglier and put it opposite the door into the room it's going in.

The last time I did something like this I used plywood for inside the frames. That was much easier.

I did get to clean some stuff out of the shop. My wife is taking two of the empty shelf units up to her work.

Time I have...
Height requirement is my main reasoning. And the wood for the tops I already had on hand. Also want 2 benches (same height). Tops are 58in length.
Most of the wood has been cut for #2, top has been made.
I will be under $250ea and still will only need to buy 2 sheets of plywood and wheels to make a third if I decide. Have enough ball bearing slides, drawer handles, top material, paint and polyurethane, nails, screws, glue etc to do it. If the third one is built I am looking at about $175ea, utilizing most of the materials I have bought.

New 56inUS General bottom boxes are now $900ea. With that, used boxes are hard to get deals on around here let alone finding 2 of the same. And they are still too tall.

My only issues are the pit temp probe is unreliable and the Bluetooth connection is weak.
Still a good tool for the money!

I replaced the carburetor on a 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine I bought to update my tow-behind Trac Vac leaf vacuum.

I'll share some details here, as I wasn't able to find them on the web when making my repair:
The B&S model number of my engine is 110402 0180 E1 , and it uses the stock carb PN 694112 which is no longer available.

The replacement I bought was a clone carb kit good for B&S PN 698479 / 693518 / 698475 / 591925 - it bolted right up and the engine is running great again.

Mine seems to work well...never had a reason to doubt it. But I make sure the probe wires don't get wet, as I've heard that can cause issues.

I wish I would have just gotten wifi so I can check from anywhere, but such is life! I have always followed the "if you're looking you ain't cooking" methodology and typically leave the lid closed throughout most of the cook. The weber likes to flame up if you leave the over off for too long, so I do my best just to leave it alone.

I can't believe how easy that Motive power bleeder was.

My normal brake bleeding procedure used to involve my wife pushing on the pedal and me on each bleeder screw. This time I pumped up the power bleeder and opened up each bleeder to let the clean fluid run out. A few minutes at each corner of the vehicle and I was done. It was so easy I thought that maybe I did something wrong. But a quick drive showed me that I can actually follow directions and now I have operating brakes.

A thumbs up for the Motive unit.

I’m gonna buy that brake bleeder and try it on my truck. I watched a video and it looks super simple. No more going back and worth pushing on the damn brake pedal and refilling the master cylinder worrying it’s gonna go dry.

There are a lot of very positive reviews on the Motive unit from across the web. I'm going pick one up myself pretty soon.

As a kid used to push that all around the garage then as a young adult using to lift stuff up with my dad trying to fix something on his peterbilt. I didnt want the desert to destroy that its still got some life left in it.

Boring Monday here. Sharpened a small eB*y tomahawk with a medium diamond hone. I think I've got it to where it's not too dull and not too sharp. The steel seems to be OK. 1045 HC? Heat Treat? Use will tell the story...

Spent some time yesterday in the house garage installing a 10 circuit transfer switch to provide power to lights/outlets via generator in the event of a power outage. Box is mounted, exterior receptacle installed/wired, and wires are pulled into the main box. 22 terminations left to complete, then it'll be all wrapped up.

Thanks. I like them, although I've thought about getting them powder coated bronze or a darker grey. I also still have the stock wheels that I need to get refurbished eventually. I wanted an M Coupe ever since I pulled up behind one 20 years ago and saw those wide fenders and big tires on such a tiny car and fell in love. I couldn't afford one at the time, but I finally got this one. It's a blast.
