So I picked up a new Snap-On T72MP 1/4" drive multi-position ratchet off the truck on Tuesday. I went to show my buddy a picture of it, I was telling him about it and he was thinking about ordering one or having me grab him one, and it's not listed anywhere on their website. Anyone know why it wouldn't be listed?

Too new for the web site?
First I saw them was this week also, I suspect it's a new product limited release.
That's very possible, I didn't really think about that. I guess I just assumed that it would have been on there if they were on the truck.

I seem to recall my rep saying something about a snap on dealer meeting recently were they roll out new tools and allow them to preorder, I know mine was pushing a couple different lights lately.

Website is terrible and poorly updated. For what they charge for the tools, you'd think it would be better. That said, the main product sale point is likely the truck, so why do they care about the site?

I've had mine a month or two. Less valuable than I initially thought. I naturally want to rest my thumb on the swivel mechanism when using it quickly, meaning I press the button and it gets loose. I removed it from my cart, as I didn't feel I used it often enough. I'm sure it will win me some battles at some point. It now lives with the other rarely used ratchets in the ratchet drawer.

Oh, I didn't know they did that. I'll have to ask my rep about that. That's kind of cool, we can get our hands on stuff that's brand new.

Yeah I thought the same thing about their website, that as soon as the dealers got their hands on the new tools it would be on the site.

I bought it for some one off applications, I don't think I will use it very often. I'm a heavy equipment technician and bought it to use in cabs for certain in cab repairs. It's going to be one of those time and frustration saver tools that I have.

I had my dealer order one. Pretty much when all else fails, it should work and be worth it. Should be useful for "reaching around a corner" instances.

I have made use of the GW indexable ratcheting wrenches I picked up at times, so everything does have a use at some point.

Oh definitely, I picked up the the 3/8" version a little while ago, used it one time and it paid for itself. It provided a simple solution to an otherwise difficult to reach fastener. I think I'm pretty well set on my needs tool wise for the most part, now I've been working on my tool want list haha!

I'm the other way, I saw the 3/8 and immediately wanted the 1/4 version. Now that I have the 1/4, I wonder if the 3/8 would've been a better starting point.

The tool want list, is a dangerous thing. Mine has a couple grand sitting on it at any one time. LOL

For 99% of my work, 3/8 is my 1/4 drive haha, so usually my go to stuff is 3/8 stuff- ratchets, sockets, impacts, etc. So kind of the opposite of you.

Yes the want list is very dangerous! I keep mine guarded so my wife can't see it LOL. I'm just kidding about my wife, she's very understanding that I need this stuff to do my job to make money.

Just remember the Snap-On website has a wishlist feature so you can keep track of your wants for your driver:ROFLMAO:

Hahaha I didn't ever see that on there. My driver would probably know what I put in there somehow and always conveniently have those items front and center on the truck, or a special sale on them. Could be dangerous! 😂

Well that's the most plausible explanation, I didn't get to see my driver today I was going to ask him. It makes sense though.

I have an indexing 1/4" SO ratchet marked T860MP. It has a 60T ratchet.
I have a similar style in Mac. What I like about these vs the Snap on is a short pivot to the top of the head. But I also like the snap on is longer they both have their positives. So I have both.

Is it an older ratchet? I read somewhere, probably on here, that they made them for a while and then discontinued them.

I wish we had more options than Snap On here at our shop. We're pretty rural, there was a Mac guy at one time, but it was long before I started. We did have a Cornwell guy too that stopped about once a month for about a year and then disappeared. We used to have an independent tool truck for a little too, and he disappeared. Maybe business isn't big enough around here to support multiple tool trucks.

I guess that was a long winded way to say I would like to see what all the other tool options are. I'm a hands on kinda guy, and like to see the stuff before I buy it, especially at truck prices. I could order online but if I don't like it, sometimes it's a hassle to return things. I occasionally work at some of our other shops that get more than one tool truck in, I always enjoy seeing what all they have and how they're different.

I bought my T860MP in the 1990s at the EAA fly-in in Oshkosh WI. Snap-on had a booth in the commercial area.

Ok thanks, that's pretty cool! Were/are you an A&P tech?
No. There's something there for anyone who is technically minded. It is a fabulous event and it's a great way to spend a week for the whole family in the summer. Everyone camps and there's plenty of support including shower facilities and food services. I worked for Ford in Product Development here in Dearborn.

That sounds like it would be a good time! Do they still hold that event?

I've been to Dearborn for work every now and again, but it's been quite a while I think the company closed up if I remember correctly.

Ford is currently in the middle of rebuilding the Engineering Center. It looks like a war zone because of it. They are estimating that they'll spend around one billion dollars. Many of the areas I worked in are gone. I spent 35 years working there and retired in 2001. I live about 2 miles away.

Oshkosh is alive and well. Log onto the Experimental Aircraft Association's website for details. If you decide to go, PM me, and I'll give you a few tips to make things easier

Must be a heck of a revamp for 1 billion! I'll have to check it out the website! Thanks for the offer if I go I'll give you a PM.
