SO my network equipment runs at 24v after looking. I do think I can do everything dc and avoid the inverter. If I have 2 big 12v deep cycle batteries running 24v will a 200watt panel be enough? My gate currently runs on a single 12v deep cycle battery on a 20watt panel.

for the ubnt radio use an injector like this

the radio takes about .5a @ 24v so you need about 12w for the radio

you can always add more panels if needed. i'd start with a single big style panel and see.

I used to work for a WISP. we had a lot of injectors that were DC to DC before upgrading towers to standardized designs with common rail power supplies.

there are other brands that may be better than that one and that isnt the model we used (cant remember the brand for the life of me ATM). Thats just the first one i could find on a search

I had a similar issue to my radio tower.

had a few solar panels and two large batteries. It worked well 9 months a year but the solar couldn’t catch up on the winter.

ran 240v in 12 ga copper in 1” conduit. Run is 1,300’.

that 240 hits a ubilquiti edge power https://store.ui.com/collections/operator-accessories/products/edgepower-54v-150w that charges a battery. Having shore power is so much nicer than messing with batteries and solar.

it sounds like a similar setup would work well for you.

I ended up going solar, everything came in today. A 12v100aH lithium battery and a 200W solar panel setup. I added a second AP on my roof and shoot my wifi to another AP 830ft away at my gate running on a 12v-24v poe converter. Surprisingly I get the same download and upload speeds at my gate as I do in my house. I added a Shelly 1 to the gate and control with my phone and home automation now. Hoping to get the new solar up next week. I did find out my 12v deep cycle battery had a bad cell in it was about to die. I currently have it running on a AGM battery I had but have to go charge it every couple days since my current 25w solar panel cant keep up.

I did the same thing years ago OP. My gate was about 300ish feet from my sub panel. The good folks here steered me to a voltage loss table for 110 long runs. I oversized my conductors according to the table and ran one set to my gate/camera set up.

My gate is a 24v system (LiftMaster…great gate opener by the way) with a set of 12v batteries that uses the 110 to charge them…the camera is low voltage too. Works great…just get the conductor sizing calculated correctly for the run.

I have a tractor/backhoe…so I dug the trench myself. If you have a trench open…I would suggest that you put an extra 1” conduit in there…or two! I ended up using one for some other lighting…

How much power will the equipment draw over the day? Then you can look at how much power the panel will generate in a day and compare the two.

Leave a buffer for low production days and some battery protection

I think it was 6 or 8 gauge stranded. It was a while ago…I used the tables folks here had posted for voltage drop. Works great over ten years later.

2 YEAR UPDATE:

Solar has worked great! So glad I went that route. I had to add a second 12v 100aH lithium battery to keep up with the Christmas lights but I have added a lot of lights and animations. I also added other electronics that run 24/7 also. I track and control everything at my entrance through my home automation.
