LED Dimmer question for 4k lights

I picked these lights up at the depot and I cannot figure out how to wire them for a dimmer. It has 2 separate sets of wires and not sure how to hook up the dimmer. Anyone with any experience? Google did not help me much in my search.

So I have 8 lights in the shop so I connect all these together with a purple and gray wire and then run the last set to the dimmer. Interesting.

That's right. The dimming is completely separate from the 120v circuit.

any recommendation on a wire to use for the dimmer feature. I checked the local hardware store and I am looking around 69 cents per foot. I need around 160ft of wire. Any recommendation on a wire to use to carry the dimmer capability?

What kind of wire did you use to wire the 120 volt to the fixtures. A NM-b or MC cable. It needs to have a 600 volt rated insulation since it will be inside the fixture

If it's in the same compartment, has to have same protection. If your fixtures have a barrier - I think rare but not sure how much it changed - not required.

If you have no wiring installed, consider NM 14-2-2 (or 12-2-2) with power and data in one jacket. Somewhat pricey but a little less install work.

But why would that matter for the control circuit? Honest question, not busting stones
I guess I will retract what I said, If its in the same raceway or cable assembly as the power conductors then it would have to have the same insulation rating , which most likely would be 600 volt. But a separate cable like a 18/2 thermostat wire would have to have a insulation rating of not less the voltage in the fixture

So if one used any wire rated higher than 600v, everything would have to be rated to that level?

As mentioned above, I would recommend a single cable with everything in it for ease of installation. Especially if the power is originating from the same box that the dimmer is in.

Edit: after reading up on this, if using a single cable assembly, it would have to be the MC cable identified for this. A 14/2/2 NM-b would not comply

So the rating of the wiring doesn't all need to be the same. You can have a mix of 600v and 150v as long as nothing is more than 150v

That article does not apply when the LED driver is identified as a class 2 device, as noted in the informational note #1 in 300.3(C)(1). Which it is in this case by the picture the OP posted. This information would be found in article 725.136 which says class 2 conductors has to be isolated from power conductors unless permitted by 725.136(B) though (I). Pretty much has to have a barrier or a 2 inch separation. This gets confusing because they make a MC cable that has all the conductors in it. Read this article

Not in this case, because this is a class 2 circuit. It would need a 2 inch separation or barriers. It all has to do about what class the control circuit is, sometimes the insulation rating has nothing to do with it. I was wrong when I first quoted this

Sorry to everyone for making this confusing, I to had to read up on this. So to answer the OPs question about what kind of wire to use, If your using a single cable assembly for power and control, then it would have to be MC cable identified for this. If using a separate cable, I would suggest an in wall rated 18/2 conductor cable. Keep it at least 2 inches away from the power conductors in the fixture and if the dimmer is in a box with power wiring, use barriers.

They sell this in different lengths

I bought 250’ of 16-2 or 18-2 600V rated when I did my 30 lights on 7 switches. In hindsight I would have been happy with 4-5 switches.

Run your purple and gray wires to the junction box in the ceiling. Install a Lutron Vive Powpak. Then use wireless Pico switches wherever you want them.

As long as you keep the doorbell wire out of the box with the 120V wire. You can do completely separate dimmer circuit and switch. The part that I don’t understand is that the doorbell wire is presumably connected to the purple and gray inside the light fixture. I would think the purple and gray need to come out so they are separated from the 120 before being connected to the doorbell wire.
