Hey Erodz.....nice work....an inspiration to be sure. Can you tell me alittle about that cool looking exhaust fan in the one picture next to your boy??

Thanks,

T
honestly can't believe that not one other person has asked about that.it is called a plymo vent and it is the best thing that I have ever added to my shop.they are super expensive new but used are cheep if you can find one. there is another brand called neederman that olso makes theese.all of them have different length drops, swing, and reaches. this one is hooked to a 1/3 hp fan in the attic and is the best thing for getting rid of the smoke before it fills your shop. also use it for small items to paint.put one in and you will never regret it. hope this helps. let me know if you need more info on it.

Finished bike looks better that I thought. The wheels really set it off! Now you need to post some HQ pics ;)

damn, thats such a badass bike for a kid to have! make sure you tell him to keep it locked up, and not leave it outside at a friends house because that will disappear

And he will!

That bike wouldn't last down here. Keep a good eye on him and the bike when they're out. Some young punk would love to take credit for the build.

start up a chopper bicycle shop and sell them to the kids at school haha
this is how forth graders comprehend money.a couple of kids comented that we could sell the and get lots of money like a hundred bucks.LOL.I think we have almost twice that into the rear wheel.unless we could sell theese for about 1500 bucks apiece there would be no money to be made.thanks for the intrest.

Have fun @ SEMA, wish I was making the trip this year. Don't worry the paint will be dry enough, in '08 I finished painting my truck (House of Kolor of course) literally hours prior to leaving for the show & by that time I (we) had to drive it, time was too short to make our move in deadline to drive the semi, we had to haul-a$$ to make it.

Oh yeah VERY Cool project! I need to spend more time in the shop with my son, thanks for the inspiration.

That is one bitchin bike! I like the Indian style rear fender. You could sell those here in Ca., no problem. You've got a lucky AND talented boy there, I can see him going places.

looks good, time well spent, time spent w/your boy is the start to him going places and a good start for manhood. the seeds are planted and as he grows his ablity is going to serve him well. in a few yr. a can see him on the cover of a mag. w/ some killer idears for trucks/cars/bikes. "you did good kid", look forward to your next project. as for you old man, a big "ATTA'ID BOY". wish there were more dads that took there sons under there arm and into the shop.

Fabulous job on the custom bike project with your son!

As others have commented, brings up great memories of our own projects in garage with our own dad. This bike build reminds me of when I totally disassembled 20" 5-speed Swinn bike w/ bananna seat so I could repaint everything in blue metallic paint!! Also, got my first taste of wire wheel polishing as those rims looked like new when I was done. Couldn't afford re-chroming back then, but man I got everything to shine!

Your awesome work on this with your kid is inspiring and would recommend that Garage Journal have a way that "junior members" could sign up and threads like this could be in separate section just for kids . . . wouldn't that be great to re-juvinate interest in these garage skills that every kid should get the chance to learn!

Keep up the inspiring work . . . we all love it!

Good on You for spending time with the boy, and teaching Him shop skills, and bonding!
I wish My Dad had time for me when I was that age. He was too busy chasing the big bucks. He finally made it, but the money couldnt bring back His health, or the time We didnt spend together. Well done!

funny thing is me and my dad spent almost no time together as well. That was the whole reason that I decided that I was going to do things differently. I hope everyone can do the same with there kids!!!!!

Great Job on the Bike...I love it.
That says alot when House of Colors invites you to show your work.
Way to Go!
Thanks for the interest glad you liked it.

That is so cool! Wish I had the time to do something like that

you just can't wish it you just have to do it. the time my son wanted to do this my house was in a million pieces my shop was completely in shambles my car was apart and I just pushed everything off until we finished the bike the kids are only young once don't let it go by before you find the time!

going to see if this inspires some of you to get out and do things with there kids when you can because they grow up way faster then you think they will! i just went through the thread and now my eyes are watery and it is hard to swallow. lol he is 19 now and we don't get any wheres near the time together as we used to and not once have i ever regretted taking all of my free time to spend it with him to make one of his dreams come to life! here is a link to another thread i started about doing things with your kids please share and post up kid related projects!
