***** because I recently picked up the new dewalt impact in 3/8" and already had a high torque 1/2" but I couldn't resist this mid torque at this price. Even though the 3/8" newer model has 400lbs vs the 330lbs on this model

OK, I'm going to open up a can of worms on Lowes !!!!!!!

At this point in my life, I'm 75, I really don't care about their "deals" as I have just about every tool I need. Unless I push a tool to far and break it!

I'm in Putnam Co. TN. and I'd just like to have some other stores other than Lowes , that's our problem!

1. I'm not a contractor any more! So I fall into the category of a homeowner, however I'm 45 min from the 2 closest Lowes stores. With that said, I would give anything to be able and go in and purchase, 3, 5, maybe 6 of anything only to find the were either out of stock, or only had a couple of what I needed for the day!

Ask an associate when they will be getting some in either they don't know, cant use their cell phone to find the ETA, or Corporate decided to change vendors, and the replacement vendors material is sitting in the back room. However, it is the vendors responsibility to stock the materials!!!

Last yr I needed an item and the shelf was empty, it was late and found the ole electrical guy over working in trying to straighten out appliance stuff. He was able to look into the stores history and showed they had received several shipments (i.e. 3) ??? however the stocking location was wrong. So we walked the overheads electrical isles to no avail. So after an hour or so, it dawned on him that incoming inspection will sometimes stash small vendor boxes in several areas "holding areas" Low and behold we found all three shipments.
Upon checking out they couldn't find a valid sque number as it was deleted from the system. However they were going to close them out at .01 cents. Went back and purchased a whole box. Now I have a life time supply!

Then we have the associates that are suppose to help/assist people load stuff. At both stores we have those assoc. that are more than willing to assist. Then there are those who do everything not to work. At my store we have the "Broom Man" who is suppose to be sweeping up the floors. You can find them at the rear of an isle resting on the push broom waiting for something to happen, or maybe the Flag Person to go before him going down the isles.

Then we have the associates working the Pro area to assist people loading !!! Many times you can find the three of them hold their brooms waiting for something to happen. Meanwhile, ALL the available carts are scattered throughout the parking lot. So the contractors will grab one or two carts and go into the store.

We had a situation where a 75 yr old gentleman was going to purchase 80 lb bags of cement. Carts were not available so he had to go back out of the store. He was able to place the cement bags on the cart and check out. Pulls his PU to the door and is having some difficulty in lifting the 10 80 lb bags into the back of his truck. Luckily several of the contractors walking into the store stopped to assist the gentleman. Thanks to those individuals!

The 3rd comment should be complaining that the stores are always in disarray and stuff all over the place. Stuff laying on the floors that need to be swept up!! (Oh, where is that guy with his chin on the push broom).

So after 4 yrs of this type of BS, my new years resolution was to use the two smaller hardware stores (Potters Ace and Country Farm and Home! In both cases you can purchase your material inside and pull your car or truck right up to the storage building and load the material right into your vehicle. No more having to find carts, load the carts, navigate your way through the store to the checkout area, move you vehicle to the loading area, and then loading. What a relief !!

OK, I'm finished my rant!!

Nice rant, but what does it have to do with Lowe’s deals?

Sounds like a work ethic issue in your locale.

Thats the one!
I read that Dewalt is replacing all their existing impact wrenches with new models that offer higher torque output.

The new subcompact Atomic impacts available at Home Depot.were the first to be rolled out, with the mid torque and high torque to follow, along with ratchets.

I bought the Atomic, and it kicks the **** of the M18 Milwaukee I bought last spring.

I would wait, but that’s me.

DCF894 is rated for 600 ft-lbs of breakaway torque, 330ft-lbs of fastening torque. Who knows though. I am tempted to give it a shot, but I am very curious about the new mid torque coming out.

Impact shows $179 at my area. Lowes pricing is all over the place. If it is marked down You usually can't buy online.

Some of my stores in central Ohio showed stock. I passed as I realized it has the pin detent anvil rather than the hog ring anvil.

5 in my local (Central Cali) bought 1 at $89 and tempted to buy another. They are marked with the old white price tag so nobody is buying i guess.

I confirmed today. At least 1 store in DFW with the $89 price tag and a few left, but the majority are at the $179 price.
That's crazy.
Wonder what the difference is?
Hog ring versus pin detent?
I'd like to find one for my buddy.
Again, maybe I'll get out of here tomorrow.
Haven't been sleeping well and feeling crappy all day long these days.

It's typical Lowe's clearance. Certain managers/stores seem to discount faster than others. I know when I see it in certain stores that it'll hit others in the area in a couple weeks. Someone must have bought them all because the store stock doesn't say it's available anymore at the $89 store. Happy hunting.

Hog ring works well if you swap sockets a lot because the sockets come off a lot easier. Pin detent uses a stiff spring loaded pin to hold the sockets on and is more inconvenient to swap sockets as you have to push the detent in. My person preference is hog ring as are all my impacts.

Sometimes I offset it so the pin detent is not in line with the hole in the socket.

I understand the pin feature is desired and or even mandatory for jobsites where overhead work is performed.

My SnapOn air impact has a pin detention. I got used to it, but never embraced it.

I have the DCF899 and bought it with the hog ring instead of the detent pin. I hated it, the sockets constantly pulled off the anvil. I bought a replacement anvil with detent pin. Cost me about $25 shipped in 2019. If you can get the impact gun for $89 I wouldn't worry which anvil it has, if you want it buy it, you can change it to your liking.

Happy New Year! Thanks for starting this thread, @Rickster55!

I was thinking along those lines. In my experience around here, it's not just Lowe's, and Lowe's is actually still one of the better box stores.

Their store-vs-store clearance policies? Well, those still annoy me, but not enough to stop looking!

The managers have absolutely no control over the clearance prices, its all set by corporate. It has to do with when the resets are scheduled for that particular store, on-hand inventory, and region. It can also depend on what type of clearance it is for example, Christmas and seasonal furniture items.
If a particular store has zero of that item it will never show a clearance price and it will also go back up when the stock is sold thru.

Interesting. I still see clearance prices go through store by store in the same general sequence a ton, but it's not a 100% consistent thing. You're dead right with inventory numbers affecting it because I have seen those that have a good amount of inventory get discounted deeper and faster than those with only a few. Regardless, there are still stores where clearance is awesome and others I can never find anything. There seems to be some general method to the madness and I guess I like playing the game enough to keep at it. My garage and I thank everyone for the contributions here!
