I was checking the Menards website today and noticed that the Bag Sale is going on today 1/2 until 1/15. Standard 15% off anything that fits in the bag.

I've been told HD will match it too, at least in the past they would.

What are you all buying during this?

There is some room for interpretation there... Does the bag have to be able to close?

It's definitely up to the cashier. I've had ones that will put every item into the bag to make sure they fit, and I've also not even grabbed one and the guy gave me the discount on my entire cart full of HVAC fittings.

It used to be that you could have something twice the height of the bag. Don't know if the rules have changed. It was printed on the bag. I looked online and they say to refer to the bag. It previously came with the newspaper (who gets a newpaper anymore)?

Picked up a dimmer switch for my bathroom and threw in a pair of Knipex combination pliers, for good measure.
Went to Home Depot and they won’t match, just to double check I also chat with them in the app and they said no.

Went in today with a few things in mind, wanted to grab icemelt mainly, then thought a bucket would be nice to put it in. That's when the light bulb *eureka!* moment went off in my head. A 5-gallon bucket fits almost perfect inside the bag, AND the buckets are on sale for $3.50. Win-win for me.

Nicely done

You are the first person I have ever seen buy a bucket. Always save old oil buckets and use as needed

It should be noted that this is an instant discount, not a store merchandise rebate like their 11% off sales that they run throughout the year.

we did movie storage shelves 6x 48" shelves, 18 brackets, the hardware to mount them, a new level, furnace filters and other things everything minus the shelves fit into the bag, what would have cost us $300 or so only cost us with gift cards $45.

Interesting. They had copies of some memo about how to do the Menards 15% bag match at every register at a local HD.

A reminder to use your bag at Home Depot too. Some have said their HD would not match, but my HD had memos about how to do the match posted at registers. You have to bring a physical bag in.

I first went to Menards and bought some stuff with a bag there. The cashier let me use the bag to carry my stuff to the car. I took that bag to HD and bought a few things there because I have gift cards and got the 15% discount. Home Depot definitely would not let keep the bag. HD even did the 15% on a clearance item.

I was there the first day, maybe they sent it out after the fact. Most likely, customer service at my Home Depot just doesn’t care.
