Sellers 4G drill bit grinder

Nabbed this ol beauty from my fav old machine dungeon all 750 lbs of it.
Supposedly came off a WW2 Navy repair ship.
If im reading the motor serial tag looks like 1942.

I took it apart and cleaned it, oiled it and pumped all the old grease out of it everything moves like butter.

I have a manual in PDF form now i just have to get a power cord and a plug then figure out how to use it?

Nice drill sharpener Jabber. Looks like it can handle pretty big drills too. I’ve not seen a Sellers before but nice you have the manual cause it looks like there’s a fair bit of adjustment or technique involved. Ed.

It is ok for big drills,kinda clunky for under half inch. My computer is dead when I can get back on I will add more

That's a beast. Photos aren't that clear. Large drills are easy enough to sharpen by hand but I can't see well enough to do those under 1/2". I've always salivated over those machines for things like sharpening milling machine cutters and multi flute end mills. If it could do reamers that would be awesome.

I took a few pics of the jaws on the 4G I have the same jaws on my grinder that jabber has. I ground the drill in the pics, the wheel needs to be trued the points are not ground flat across the lip, hard to see in the pic.

Well its done and running. Got some locking swivel casters on it so i can move it around as im running out of room.

Looks like a big brother to the Lisle 91000, which holds the drill bits in a similar way. My Lisle will sharpen bits from 1/8th to 1-1/4".

When you're out at sea, doing a critical repair, you can't just get another bit the next morning from McMaster, and you can't really carry 30 of each size in the larger sizes. Some of those ships had big radial arm drills along with lathes, milling, and boring machines.
