Smoke, thanks for clearing that up, I was looking at that badass top box from bmw and was thinking "blue" heritage logo? I know vintage Craftsman stuff at times was a drunken free for all at Sears, with many mysteries abound. You saying it's rare means it's RARE.

I picked up this little guy pretty cheap. I didn't see the decal until after I bought it. I actually thought it was an import lol. Any idea of the vintage on this one???

I don't understand why they doubled up on the 3/4" ends. I saw another slightly newer one online that had 3/4" and 19mm opposite each other. It'd be fun to measure the ends on that one and see how much they differ.

Grabbed this gem yesterday, a 1957 12-ich disc sander with the very uncommon engine turned motor band with power-bronze end caps. All original paint.

Dang, major suckage! Heavy as a battleship but that can turn old growth end grain into saw dust in moments! You did really well. In fantastic shape as well being a less common color for the low rpm motor

Thanks Smoke! I seem to run across power bronze more often than not and by default it has become my favorite. This is only the second time I have found power bronze end caps with an engine turned motor band, and it definitely was not in this condition. This guy had a nice, heated indoor workshop. It spins that disc hard!

I almost walked, but he came down on the price. The bottom cover was all the way back in the storage slot so escaped most of the repaints.

Are you going to strip the old paint OTG? If so, I'm curious as to what method you'll use. I've got a similarly mistreated roller and full strength simple green didn't loosen the spray paint at all. Thinking I'll have to go with either acetone or a full mechanical strip with an abrasive. It's a shame because the paint on the inside is in pretty good shape.

Saukit here is a 3 drawer spray bomb victim I have been working on. In addition to the earl scheib treatment, they cut off the strip around the top. Welded on a new strip , sanded it and skimmed some dings with bondo. This is my typical approach to the spray bombing.

Thanks OTG! I had a feeling that I'd need to consider stripping my roller by mechanical means, and you've confirmed it. Might as well wait until the weather gets nicer and give 'er!

Thanks for taking the time to show your process!

Not sure if this belongs in the Heritage, or the Long C thread 😂 but picked up this transitional Heritage badged Atlas floor model press today. I believe this particular combo would be a 45/46ish only setup. Motor is dated 1946. 20220201_163849.jpg

Saw your posting of this machine on the other page. What a fantastic specimen of a transitional drill press. As a pre-war DP aficionado, I'm extremely jealous!

I've only seen one other of those Atlas made Craftsman drill presses with the heritage logo and it had a lift on it no less. That is an outstanding find Tex, that table looks unblemished too!

My buddy beat me to this one, didn't you @danandmelrod !
This one STILL occasionally wakes me up at night because of that price.

My educated guess would be yes. The State (Virginia) is certainly correct. The name seems correct, as well. Not much stalking really necessary.

Don’t tell him there is no stalking necessary 😂😉. Last time I mentioned ebay he bit my head off and apparently left the forum. More power to him though. Even just posting it on eBay and taking offers may get someone to offer him enough he can’t refuse.

So did it sell? Says it's no longer available. A tool guy in my area sold one a while ago, listed BIN at $1200 and I think I remember him saying it sold in less than a day.

There is some guy trying to unload c series and vanadium sets for many thousands of dollars on ebay. I hope it gets it but it won't be from me!

He could be trying to get offers from buyers. More power to him. If I had those sets I would be tempted to put them on the bay and see what numbers people offer me. The really rare stuff has been selling at crazy numbers lately and I don’t blame folks for trying to refill their tool fund!
