Does anyone have info on a Parker vise 249x roughly 85lbs. I haven't seen much about them like if there common, rare , valuable etc_. It's been refinished and works as it should. Thank you

I got a message that I received a trophy for asking a question. What's that about?

I come across a lot of Parker vises around here. It is very rare that I see a 249X and when I do, it's almost always clapped out and ready for the trash heap.

Value is highly dependent upon the region of the Country that you live. To that end, I've never seen a Parker 249X priced to the moon. Certainly they do not command Wilton money no matter what condition.

Almost every Parker semi-steel vise I've some across has had a chunk busted out of the back of the slide, clearly embedding steel bars in the cast iron slide was not a great idea. Yours doesn't, so that is huge. I wonder why someone drilled and screwed in a big round head screw in the top of both jaw towers? That's not OEM.
Anyway, decent user, Worth about $150 in my area without a broken slide.

Thank you Kenc184!! I saved it from the scrap yard, it was on a trailer in a burgerking parking lot along with other scrap. I had 30 bucks on me when the guy came out he was happy to take 30...that was a few years ago

I can only come up with two possibilities. Someone had another set of jaws and they added the screws to make the change out easier than banging out the factory pins or they destroyed the factory pins during restoration and the screws were used instead.

Whats funny is when I painted it I could of very easily filled the screw holes but I didn't know if they were used for something that I never seen before,so I left it. The screws are 3/4 long and were separate from the jaw pins.Maybe I'll fix it someday when I'm bored lol
