Right, I will post these photos here, and on the general board.

Appologies to those whose macines die, choke and go on strike, but I cannot be bothered to make 34 pics smaller etc.

View from the rear camping with the German contingent.

Thorsten and Dave "Oldbus" off down the strip early, by midday before people had been allowed in.... we were part of Thorstens "pit crew" so made it into the grounds 2 hours early, getting the best camp spot etc.

Nice pics Rian, I'm not a Ford afficiando by any means but being pedantic for a moment is the Consul Capri not a Classic as opposed to a Capri? I thought the Capri was only a 2-door?

Absolutely right Baz, it even says it on the flanks, and I told Nicola when I showed her the photos after posting, but I was so tired, and just said... Sod It.

The Capri was what had me drooling for years after I had an Anglia with the same lines.

GREAT NEWS !! My house has sold !!

And in typical UK housing market style, the buyer can still pull out on the last day of contract exchange.

That said, I sold well below my asking price, but it means that we get to buy and move into the house mentioed earlier in the thread.... and get a 30 x 30 foot garage plus large garden...... Space for "stuff"

Keep fingers crossed that all goes to plan.

Copied from page one of this thread for those who do not remember.

When Nicola and I get married in August, we hope to buy this house, with a 30x30 garage. Enough space I guess to shoehorn about 6 mk2 VW Golfs into.

The garage is down the bottom of the garden, with wheatfields behind, and in front of the house it is the same, very rural , which is what we want.

Behind the bush is a garage.

P1100425.jpg

Currently the owners have a trampoline for their daughter in front of the one side......

P1100421.jpg

There is another door on the other half, behind the overgrowth, and trampoline..... SPACE !!
Current owners use this space as a afternoon sun spot, and it is very private too, which helps keep eyes away from toys and projects.

P1100407.jpg

Lastly, to give an idea of the size, this is a view of the rear of the building seen from the wheatfields.

P1100460.jpg

Keep those fingers crossed guys, gals.

Sweet looking environment. Any plans on changing the garden, or the path through the garden to the garage?

I'd kill for a decent space, and that looks a cracking space.
Best o luck with the house. Never understood why in england you can back out of something right at the last miunte when buying a house. In scotland the minute your offer is accepted its legally binding.
Plus we have pretty mountains. Move up here instead :bounce:

No.... I would love to break it all out and make a solid path, with no grass between the strips, and slightly wider.
But I do understand why Gary did it that way..... to keep prying eyes out .

Shug, we love Scotland and get up there at least once a year, every time we go we mention about moving up there.

Lovely counry, lovely people. (Oh, and I am meant to be of Scottish decent too )

Great news :fingersx: for you!

The property you intend buying, is the only vehicular access through the garden?

Thanks mate, yes that the way in and out, I am happy with that, would love to just relay all the concrete a bit differently.

:lol_hitti

The case of the pot and the kettle springs to mind!:lol_hitti:beer:

I saw the comment before, and still I will just smile.

Everything here is different, because it is a different world.

Happy you got your home sold. Best of luck with the new place.

Thanks Scott, Nicola and I love cars, so thats the fun part.

I guess in a way the last 8 pages of this thread are not really garage itself, but it is nice to share.

What do you think of the final product ?

371 hours build time, think about it before you start, it is addictive this hobby.

VERNMOTOR !!!!!

Here are some propper cars for you....:beer::beer:

Hope your PC does not choke up.

Thanks to Edd "BodieandDoyle" for inviting us to this show a couple of weeks ago.

We had an awesome day, saw loads we liked and also saw a bunch of nice people, both new and also many we have gotten to know over the last few years.

I had to deliver a whole spare rear axle for the Transit, as I could not get it dismantled for Edd at my place.

Saw and heard the Transit which is on the final furlong of its re-creation.

I LOVE IT !! Sounds loveley, and the engine is sweet.
There are so many things Edd has done, and I did not get to see half of them I am sure.

Thanks to Edd for bringing it to the show.

I took loads of pics, and may post up to 86 on here.

Sorry for those who find it too much for their PC's.

First pic.... Typically Edd, Solutions, not problems.

Well, I guess like most things, this was born out of necessity.

At Classic Ford and other meetings , Oldbus and others always have the BBQ.

However, we do not know who we will be camping with at the Retro Show in July at Santa Pod, so I thought it wise to make a small 2-3 person BBQ that can be abused and used as needed.

Picked up a couple of empty Helium tanks today from Party balloon suppliers at the tip, along with a Briggs and Stratton petrol lawnmower.

2 Angle grinders, hammer, vice, mig welder, some bicycle seat uprights, a handlebar cut in half and some offcut stainless steel mesh, an hour playing in the garage, and we have a basic BBQ that should work just fine.

P1080525.jpg

Quick cut here, and there....

P1080523.jpg

Leaving me with this

P1080524.jpg

Small rest area on side for meatbowl to rest on and keep meat warm till all is ready to eat.

P1080527.jpg

Hacksaw and welder later, has us with a functional tool, just need to cut the slots for the air to flow through.

P1080533.jpg

Trust you like.

I really would have prefered to have used a Jerry can and made a closing lid BBQ with handle, but not having a jerry can meant having to resort to this.

The other one is to cut in half so that I can use it as a recessed section in the gas bottle and battery box, below the top level of the A-frame of the trailer at the front.

Thought I would add this here, as it links in to the new house buy and the money I lost selling my existing place.

Got this mower at the council tip on Monday after work, gave it to a colleague who needed it on Tuesday morning 07.30 when he popped in for a coffee.

P1080522.jpg

The popped in to the skip yard later the same morning by 08.30 and was given this one of the back of a trailer....

Brought it home yesterday and tonight after work, I pulled it out the garage, and pulled once, started beautifully, cut my outside lawn, found it to be self propelled, and had a tank of fuel.... the guy tipping it was in a very new Discovery and had bought a new mower..... happy days.

Checked the price of this one which cuts a 17" or 45cm wide section of grass..... £249.99 at B&Q.

I am chuffed as I do not have a mower for the new house yet.

This is the way I am able to reel in the loss I made selling my house at a loss.

My Dad's neighbour (who is a landscape gardener) happened to mention he had bought a new mower, and said that as he didn't need his Hayter Harrier 48, would I be interested in it. I said of course, but it depended on the price. We settled on £10 and two bottles of wine, which is the most he would agree to take for a mower which costs over £700 (around $1000)! Looks like this, but used (and cared for):

mower.jpg

Must be the season of cheap/free mowers!

Great pictures from that festival - I thought for a second it might have been Deva Dubs'n'Rods in Shrewsbury last weekend, which I missed for the first time since it started in 2003! Nice to see some VWs at a hot rod show. :)

Intersting how one gets addicted to things.

The build of this trailer had it's ups and downs.

Now I find that with extra time on my hands, I am looking for stuff to do.

Today we found two identical Dino's at the bootfair. 20p each...... bargain.

I have been looking for ways to camouflage the base into which the poles fit for the galley, from ally Budweiser ber bottles to bits of wood etc.

When I saw the first one of these, it was going to be a mascot.

Then I found the 2nd one, and just knew it would be made to cover the base, with the pole going throigh the back ofit.

I also varnished the exterior another coat, about no 5 I think. and did the floor of the galley and sealed it around the bottom edge with some silicone both for water and gas entry into the cabin section.

Last thing I did was to open a tin of thinners and use some of it to get the glue from the Sellotape I had used along the edges where the Sikaflex went off the ally. Actually an easy job.

Dino in place.

Hi Grizz, just read your post from start to finish.that tear drop you built is fantastic,I noticed in some of those photos you do get sunshine up there:bounce: Its winter down here now and we live half way up a mountain,Mt Egmont or as some say now Mt Taranaki.I,m old school. We used to have all English cars here and some good old American cars which were assembled here in New.Zealand.Then they opened up the importation of Jap cars then the assembly plants closed down,I served my apprentistship on Standard Vangards and triumph Herald,s, 2,000,s etc in the paint shop.
good luck on the new home front and best wishes for your wedding.Ray.
PS the second car I owned was a Austin A35 2door not a very big back seat in those cars.:shocking::thumbup:

Hallo Naki Kid,

I have a friend who lives in NZ, moved from SA, and he seemed to settle well.

The weather here is OK, it just gets in the way of work and outdoors activities.

Like Building projects.

Had to post this.

Chris Squier over in SoCal has built a seriously engineered chassis for his Teardrop, interestingly, he is towing with a Ford Focus.

I just love the wheels he got though.

Banded look, with chrome centre caps and trim rings.

Well, the last couple of weeks have been filled with other stuff, like living and spending time with Nicola.

This week I stole some time after hours to make up the rear vallence out of ally sheeting too, so that it fits in with the rest of the trailer.

Scott (Jabbo) will be around some time to connect the right bits up , as I am not too good with it. I have laid and fitted wires to everything, including a pair of side lights, which I modified to only shine from the one side, and not the other or the top, these will be number plate lights.

Those of fleet eye will note that the reflectors are upside down..... but then at night reflections do not stop just because they are upside down. It fitted the best with the space I do have.

The lights you will remember were an exhorbitant impulse buy at last years Battlesbridge show and autojumble @ £15/pair.
Mark (Nightmares Racing) polished all the lettering off them for me as well. These are from Austin 1100 and also London Black Cab Taxi's.

Backing plate made up.

P1080541.jpg

All the bits laid out and ready to fit on the Old Grizz Sinclair trailer.

P1080550.jpg

Fitted, now just needs to be wired up the the existing harness.

I am quite pleased with the way they came out, just need to see it out in the open now.

P1080553.jpg

Right, next stop : RETRO SHOW - Santa Pod in 2 weeks.

Well, the bus is home.

Fetched it yesterday, and the hottest day of the year, along with taking 3 hours to get home due to other car breakdowns on the Dartford bridge still was not enough to kill it off.

It was 35'C outside, and I had the engine cowl open, along eith the door, a'la racing driver car.
Crawling along for many miles.

Did 80 miles at 65mph, and all is good.

I did forget how noisy it is compared to my VW Touran daily though.

Pulls like a steamtrain.

THANKS TO EDD WEEKS (Bodieanddoyle) FOR DOING THE WHOLE JOB. Also the MOT and various other litle fidly jobs he did for me.

Nicola calls Edd her " Little WIZARD "

Hopefully next weekend it will be at Santa Pod along with the Grizz-Pod.
