Is tray cable ok to use for residential? Buddy got some cheap from a job leftover and wants to use it for a sub panel in a detached garage. It would go from the main through 60' of conduit (20' buried in rigid).

The link that you posted says in the application that it is listed for wet locations, but the description just says THHN, which is not a rated for wet locations. So I don't know

actually depends on the tray cable. as said above, the link shows THHN which is dry location only and OP wants to use it underground.... OP should verify that its THWN before using it...
You are correct! HOWEVER I read the specs (see link) on the cable that OP wants to use and it says it can be used in wet underground locations.…….. Did I miss something?

I'll verify that it is THWN before we give it a go, is the conduit fill effected since the 4 wires are in a jacket? The plan is to use 1 1/4", should I step up to 1 1/2"?
