Since it was 55 degrees in CT today, and the high over the next few days is in the 20s I washed the car.

Went to Home Depot today and advised my son on what Garbage Disposal to install with his new sink and faucet he bought for his rental.
Also picked up a 12 foot 2X6 to repair the fence on the same property. Bought two bags of beans at the Organic Market.
Treated my helper and I to lunch at Chic Fillet.

My neighbor helped. We could of never done it by ourselves. He built us a post for free and stained it too. And gave us a new mailbox he had sitting around. Ours was put up in 2004 when an older lady backed over top of ours and the lid came off of it a few months ago. The post was also pretty aged as well. The mailbox looks crooked in the picture but it’s not it was not secured down when I snapped the picture. It was dark by the time we got it up. The post looks amazing though we are very pleased with it.

I am going to post this as a over thinking a problem. I have a John Deere X590 garden tractor and I needed to service the transmission. Well the filler spout for the tractor is under the fender deck and fuel tank. It is rather a poor design choice to begin with but I am glad I can at least service the transmission with good fluid. I have the fluid and then trying all sorts of ideas to get the fluid from the jug to the spout well that is difficult. I get my flexible funnel but that was not going to work.

I then see a battery powered fluid extractor at Harbor Freight so I picked that up and well that idea failed as the viscosity of the fluid just would not go in to the tank on the transmission.

Then after all that work I take the flexible spout off the harbor freight extractor and put it on a long neck funnel I had and it worked messy yes but it worked on filling the Transmission. Then it hit me I am a normal human as I had a manual fluid extractor that looks like a grease gun. I just wanted to hit my head on the wall multi times. tempImagebxZgSl.png tempImagerJ3ud2.pngtempImage1tnqxg.pngtempImagelvxxYI.png
grrr - this sounds familiar. The only thing worse than needing a tool you don't have is needing a tool that you forgot you had!

Put some things away that had been out (in correct piles, but not put away)
Impeller mod on ye old thrower of snow.
Built a rack to hang wet snowsuits to dry.
cleaned out the relief cuts in the concrete; will be cutting another few small channels to head towards the drain. 43 year old home and the garage has slightly settled in a spot away from the drain.

Used some leftover vinyl planks and rebuilt the old steps from the garage into the laundry room.

Started mounting my battery chargers on a piece of plywood to mount them on the wall. Need to make a run to the box store to get a 4x4 junction box and some 14/3 cord to tie them all together into a single power cord with a switch. Then I chased 2 birds out that wandered in and poured 5 bags of sand along the edges of the new driveway.

Got everything ready to do oil changes and walked outside and see it was a snow and rain mix when I was going to do it. The disadvantages of not having a garage lol. Then was going to do it when it stopped but we went out riding instead. Now when I get home I’ll have tons of new tools to put away because we went to Advance Auto lol.

Left it messier than when I started…

Before this garage, I had a 10’X12’ garage. It was cramped, but I was able to utilize all the space.

Here, I have more space, but cannot use all of it, or I cannot park in here. So I have to shove all the contents of a 10’X12’ shed into this corner.

It “looks” messy because it is! Hahaha but it’s an organized mess.

I started going through the totes from the shed and was able to empty 1 completely (car care products on the consumables shelf) and empty another. The second one was mostly junk electronics/car CD players and stuff that should not have been packed in the first place. But when you have people helping pack, EVERYTHING gets packed.

I’d like to make one more dump run next weekend, so I’ve been seriously tossing stuff.

I have a delivery tomorrow sometime. I’m hoping to get the garage cleaned out enough to pull the Dakota in to utilize the item(s) arriving and get that truck done before midweek.

Man. My garage is a mess! Hahahahaha

I wheeled the air compressor out to fill up my wife's car tires.... Again.

I need one of the 6x6 army vehicles with auto tire inflate for her. Haha. Just kidding, but it's weird that her right front tire always gets low and it does not follow the tire during rotations. It's consistently the right front.

If you curb it just right you'll pop some air out. I did that today while Ice racing.

Attempted to get some transmission work done. Installed a big shaft kit (input, stator, and output) into a 48RE trans that is behind 1000hp. He basically demolished an upgraded billet/300m input assembly after 1000 miles.

Took in another burned up 48RE for our Stage II build.

Tried to organize some cores ...

Pretty far behind overall, and the supply chain issues aren't helping much, either.

I made the suggestion that it was something related to her driving habits.... It was not well received. Haha

I think she's coming around to my way of thinking. The good that came of this is I invested in a Milton tire pressure chuck with a gage. It speeds up the process anyways.

to be fair mine was the right rear - oversteer induced fun. knocked it down from 32 to 15psi and set off my warning light. thankfully I didn't de-bead it so it was a quick fix.

After a long wait, I finally have air lines running across the garage and my reelcraft reels mounted. I used 3/4" PEX-A with Sharkbite Evo-PEX fittings. Ran a drop with coiled hose next to the work bench too. So far the pressure is holding steady at 100psi. Now to save up for a decent 5hp 2-stage compressor.

I took the bumper off my truck today. I am going to trade it with another guy for a steel bumper. He wants a factory bumper I want a bumper that I can mount a winch we both win. Going to do the trade on Friday but I want to clean the front of the truck before I install the new bumper Saturday.

What tires you running? Looks like the full screamer can on that thing.
Bridgestones, front is stickier. Pipe is a Muzzy Megaphone, it's somewhat *melodious* ;)

It used to have a small funnel shaped doodad in the end, but I only had to remove three tack welds to sort that out. If you stand the right distance behind it, it will blow your hat off :)

I installed a set of hmmwv tail light lenses on my Jeep 2 years ago and have never been happy with the illumination of the reverse lights. I opened up the recessed light cavities that make up the reverse light area. I removed the 'walls' of the recess between the two light areas. There is way more light showing now which is what I want. It is hard to describe, but the picture below shows the two areas that I opened up...

Yesterday coming home, I heard a roar from the front of the Dakota. Wheel hub. So today, I lifted the front end and sho nuff, passenger side is about to go full shopping cart. Drivers side isn’t “too” bad. Definitely gonna do both…

The garage was still fairly disorganized/messy. So I couldn’t pull the truck in to work on it. I ordered the bearings from Oreillys but they weren’t going to be in until 1-1:30. So I had about 5 hours to kill.

Decided to do some more clean up in the garage. Moved the Ninja into the pole barn, but had to jump start it. She wasn’t happy with the cold! She almost didn’t fire. She has a leaky fuel petcock, and so I figured the fuel dripped out slowly. Went to open the cap, and it’s stuck. Again. So I got it apart (previously drilled the hole to access the Philips screw under the fill cap). Took the lock/latch apart and did a quick and dirty clean/lube. It’s back to working.

Got the ninja running and into the pole barn, a couple empty totes out there as well, and stacked a few totes along a wall. Made room for the Dakota.

I was anxious to put the RocketSocket set to use.

I had to run to town real quick, so right after I pulled in, I got the RocketSocket set from inside the house, grabbed the 7/16-11mm and tapped it on the bolt.

I couldn’t get a straight shot at it due to the steering shaft. And couldn’t get the steering shaft off due to rust. I sprayed it with some PB and let it soak while I was workin the exhaust manifold. She went on crooked, but when I applied torque, she went CREEEEAAAAK, and broke loose. Then I grabbed the 10mm, and did the heat shield nuts where the heat shield rotted off. Snapped those to expose the 12mm (thought they were 11mm before). Got those broke free and removed. Then onto the lower bolt. That one didn’t need the RocketSocket. It broke free on its own accord (probably scared after seeing its mate thrashed by the socket! Lol)

Unbolted the down pipe, and removed the manifold.
That left a previously broken (by myself) bolt with about 1/4” of threads sticking out. Got an appropriate sized RocketSocket tapped onto it, and backed it out as well.

I’m freakin LOVING this RocketSocket set! Didn’t have to weld, didn’t have to grind. Didn’t have to drill or tap or ANYTHING! Definitely a time/money saver!

So, after all THAT was done, I tackled the lower steering shaft. It was more of a pain than the manifold. But, eventually got it. I’ll be pulling it again soon, and swapping it for a higher quality one, as the indexing is wrong on this one. The steering wheel it off about 45° to the right. It was the absolute CHEAPEST one on rockauto(?) at the time. So now, the truck steers immensely better, and has return to 0 now, whereas before, turning was “choppy” and the wheel stayed where you turned and let go (the transmission shop had my brother test drive it because they felt it was dangerous to drive! Hahahahaha).

And STILL didn’t get the hubs picked up from Oreillys. I wasn’t happy that they could only get masterpro, so I ordered timkin online for the same price. They will be here this weekend or so (it’s FedEx, so we shall see!).
Already took the truck for a test drive, and she sounds so much better now. No more clacking exhaust leak! The truck does have a hesitation, that I’m hoping this exhaust leak fixes lol. The code IIRC from 2 years ago was a bank 1 sensor 1 lean or something like that. I’m hoping it was sensing lean because of the leak at the head/exhaust manifold. Only time will tell. I’d scan it, but my scan tool was stolen while I was gone. So I’m flying blind for now until I buy another :/

Cleaned up yesterday's mess. Did a little sorty, flingy. Gained 3 sqft of floor. Fixed a stool I broke. Made a pair of pliers to get the staples out of it. Jointed and reglued a cutting board. Installed the new elbows in the dust collection system. Sanded the cutting board. Cleaned up again.

Put the rear springs back under the yota and bolted in the axle. Loaded a pair of calipers and started to figure out where to mount them.

Stuffing more stuff in the garage today, materials for current projects. Got some 6ga 4" wire mesh livestock panels for making a gabion wall in our front yard and some more 4x10 beams for additions to the back yard pergola. Both projects starting now, concurrently. Tyring to finish both by Mar15. Then it is on to garden and landscape planting, by Apr15.
