Vinyl Wrap for drawer handles Craftsman toolbox ?

Hey guys! I’m trying to better match my side by side tool boxes and I have a 26” top and bottom stacked Craftsman Edge series in midnight Blue but next to that I have a 41” Craftsman 2000 series roll cab that’s black with red drawer pulls (it was a birthday gift before I got my other stack).

is there a way I could potentially take the handles off and take them to like a place that does Vehicle Vinyl wrapping? do you think they'd take on a job such as this? I have no idea.

Anyone have any tips and does this sound like a good idea ? Side by side pic and you’ll see how the colors clash now. I think changing the drawer pulls to silver would make them tie together more nicely. Thanks !

Did they show the handles on the Craftsman web site and just say they were discontinued ? Was that style handle available in Silver ?

Are you sure that the one on the left is a 2000 series ? All of the pictures of 2000's I find have different handles, almost like your box on the right.

I’ve looked before on the sears parts direct and craftsman websites before and had problems

Take them off and have them powder coated ?
Well I wouldn't know the first idea of where to take them for something like this and seeing as I can't find replacement parts from another model is there a way I could potentially take the handles off and take them to like a place that does Vehicle Vinyl wrapping? do you think they'd take on a job such as this? I have no idea.

Sounds like you need to ask a place that does vehicle vinyl wraps since nobody here can speak for them.

Just asking more so in general is this a good/popular idea to achieve the look and desired outcome that I seek ?

Attempted vinyl wrap on eyebrow to fender spears transition pieces today. Local “Elements” wrap Co. gave me a couple square ft. Watched several utubes. Its not easy. Also not very forgiving.

I used vinyl on the drawer faces and handles. I also used chrome door edge molding on the handle, since I was worried the vinyl would wear after a lot of use (it hasn't worn at all)

looks really good! did you do them yourself ? I just contacted a local car vinyl wrapping place here and am gonna see what they say.. they had me send them pictures to show the wrap guy. did you take off the handles/drawer pulls to apply the wrap ? i'm just hoping I don't scuff them up too much by doing that ... I tested one a minute ago and you have to like tap the end of it with a mallet to get it to slide down the track.. unless there's another way I couldn't see... sending pics (best I could get to capture)

I like the way those boxes look just as they are. Ya, I know, not much help in answering your question tho. Anyway, you've got a couple of great boxes there imo.

The look like a different handle but the same attachment design. I'd try to lightly tap them with a rubber mallet or plastic dead blow hammer. Go easy. . . tapping not hitting.

Yeah I was thinking of even covering up the edge that I’m “tapping” with some sort of protective tape or something to further protect from chipping

They’re extruded aluminum- take them off, strip them, then polish- reinstall.
You mean “strip” the paint off them basically? I’m guessing that’s what u mean. What would I do that with and afterwards would I wanna like clear coat them with something to protect them from say rusting and such ?

Yes, strip the paint-
It’s aluminum! Aluminum doesn’t rust! Polished aluminum can be almost as brilliant as chrome.
Vinyl will wear, tear, and probably look like **** in a few years-
Stripping and polishing or brushing- which ever is most like the other- and you’ll never have to bother with it again.

what happened to the patina look everyone was in love with a couple years ago? Get a can of rustoleum and spray the handles. You guys kill me with your ever ending plans to reinvent the wheel.

Yes, this was a DIY shop project. My handles aren't removable, so they were done in place

Find a local powdercoater who can bead blast the red paint off and re-coat. If they are aluminum and you want that look polished look, then you would need to scotchbrite it to give it a grain, as the bead blast will dull it. But raw aluminum will oxidize over time, so protect with clear anodize or rattle can clear coat.
