Spent all day in the garage wrestling the hub.

Had plenty of large bolts, but not matching nuts. But I did have my homemade Dana seal installer (all thread). So I drilled out the hub flange big enough to accept the large all thread. Then wrenched on it with my largest pipe wrench. Took a LOT of muscle with no results. Finally saw a small “crack” where the hub and knuckle met. PROGRESS!!!!! Sprayed liberally with MORE PB blaster, hit the opposing side of the hub with my purse, wrench, hit, wrench, hit, rinse repeat. Finally got it off.

Had to call it a day, as I have other stuff to attend to unfortunately. But, such as it is, I cannot finish until the replacement bolt arrives in a couple/few days. So I sprayed down the inner knuckle/hub race with PB BLASTER for it to soak for one more night. Tomorrow, I’ll clean up with a wire wheel and sand paper. This surface is getting SMEARED with anti seize! Hahahahaha

Now time to start laundry, make dinner, and take a shower! My body is SORE!

Spent all day Saturday supervising the replacement of a Kitchen Sink, Kitchen Sink Faucet, and a Garbage Disposal. Everything was more complicated than anticipated, the replacement sink was slightly larger and deeper than the original, and the Universal Blades for my Ridgid Oscillating Tool did not fit.

Replaced a dash light that has been out for a while in my D/D, finally bothered me enough that I took the little bit of time it takes and did the job.

I had plans to do a few things today, but only got 1 done...

But that 1 I got done was a pretty big one for me. My CNC hasn't been working correctly since I recently upgraded it and re-did the wiring. Well. Wouldn't you know it but I screwed up the wiring. I had the stepper motors in parallel instead of series, so they were only getting half the current they're supposed to get. Kinda explained all my issues.

It runs great now.

I have the day off tomorrow. The plan is to go pick up a large chunk of wood to turn into a new mantle and to replace the tank and fender on the motorcycle with the stock ones so I can repaint the new parts a better color.

My husky cabinet has a about 1inch of space between the inside face of the doors and the front edge of the shelves (the inner door skin also has pegboard holes).

I took some scrap plexiglass and aluminum angle and fabbed up some pockets to store sandpaper and scotchbrite pads in.

That would be super cool. I was unaware they made them with a 5 speed. I haven’t seen a two door one in a long time. I always say mine is one of a kind though it’s solar yellow and that’s the factory color for it 2001 model. I’d like to have another but the car market ain’t friendly anymore.
Oh yeah, my first XJ was a 98 5 speed. One of my biggest regrets is selling that Jeep. And that’s awesome. Solar yellow is a super rare color. Got any pics?

I'm the opposite, I can't really call a vehicle mine until I do something to "make it mine".

This actually has a history going back to at least the model T, as many companies and individuals modified the vehicles to suit their taste or needs.

Factories later supported this with optional add ons. For instance, car radios were an "extra option"
Always have to add my own touches!

You're making me miss my Xj more and more with all these posts lol, Nice jeep, the stereo upgrade was one of the best things mine had.

Time to pick up another one! Act quick, they’re starting to appreciate in value.

Loved my XJ, almost 20 years ago that I first got it. Just an aftermarket head unit improved the sound by quite a bit.

They will always have a soft spot in my heart!

Pardon the mess lol. This is really the only picture I have of it. Taken in 2020. My two yellows next to each other. I’ll take the Jeep yellow haha. It was stored at a shop for about 5 years and some mean person ripped the rear wiper arm off 😡.

See - you are going about this the wrong way. Sell that problem and buy a 2006 to 2010 Explorer. The front hubs are never rusted on that badly - they come right off with very little persuasion. I'm really impressed with Ford on how they designed the hubs to be replaced that easily.

Well, OK - they come off easy because they don't last very long.

Sigh.

Nevermind.

Nice! Bummer about the engine blowing. Let me know if you’re ever thinking about selling it! A little road trip to VA doesn’t sound awful haha.
Haha. I was three years old when we bought it. We traded in our 1996 Avalon for it. The title is still in my dads name don’t think he would give up anything he owned LOL. There is three in this area alone that are this color this is one of them. The other one is down from my sisters house and the other one is about 20 miles away. My dad has their phone numbers because they want to buy it too haha.

could only get one of the short pergola beams fashioned this afternoon, will finish the other tomorrow and stain them both. Second coat on the big beams went on Noon today. I still need to cut the 1-1/2" deep saddle notches in the top of the existing beams, probably also tomorrow.
Couldn't wait for a 'finished' pic so ran out back and threw the piece up over the wrong pillar just to get a sense of it.

Well planned on changing the oil in the 1989 Mazda B2200 but the battery crapped out on me. It’s 8 years old so I can’t complain too much. Nothing beats the Interstate one we had in our van that lasted 14 years though. I’ll be putting another Interstate back in both of them as they both need batteries. Have to wait till tomorrow so I can order through work and get a discount. Also started up the 1994 Econoline and the thing is still running wide open so it beats me I guess I’ll be installing a new computer in it as I read the capacitors often blow up in the computers on these and cause a lot of idle problems. Was really bummed the Coolant Temperature Sensor and everything else we tried didn’t work. Unless there is some trick to it. I love my big blue van but haven’t got to drive it since 2019 because of this issue. The thing is so loud when it starts up that the neighbors come outside because they thought something was going on lol.3F13DDBD-13B1-4697-B8DE-589FE409215D.jpeg

Started a test bed of home automation with a switch in the garage. We often discover after we're in bed that someone has left the outside spot light on. Garage isn't much to write home about yet. More on that in another post soon enough.

Succcessful first test. Spotlight was off when I left the house before dinner tonight. When I turned into the driveway after dinner, the light turned on. Love the geofencing so far. I'll never have to get out of bed to go out into a cold garage just to turn off a light again!

This old early 50's wooden handle shovel was cracking and missing chunks.
So I taped the handle to keep it together best I could and the polyed about a dozen coats on Minwax on all the wood to glue it all together. I just need it to last the rest of my quality days and I am 63 this April.
I use it to shovel salt, deorative rock and stuff into 5 gallon buckets.

Also fixed the Led street light on other side of the shop. That needed a power supply too.

Painted the ugly green boards on the closest organizer Dad pre-built for me. I was hoping to install the whole unit, but it needs some adjustments. Any opinions on small shelf mounts? It came with a track aluminum unit, but I'm thinking about pocket screws instead.

Always lots going on in the garage. I'm so glad that I reconfigured everything years ago.

One of the pet peeves of my wife (and in this case she is kinda right) was the gas/fuel/exhaust smell from the Mustang. Even though I've learned some of the black magic in carb tuning, it still does smell strong.
Pre covid I added a CO detector and a relay that was supposed to trip the fan, if the CO alarm went off and levels got too high. It didn't work.

While re-configuring it to have a smart switch instead of a timer, I was lucky enough to find a wiring diagram online for the relay that indicated how to hook things up, and Voila, it works! Now with the smart switch, I can configure run times, and remotely power it on and off whenever. If the CO gets too high, it will automatically run. Too bad the high-low setting on the fan, can't be incorporated as well.

Last week I added alarm contacts to the garage doors. They work well, and being smart devices can be set up to send alerts on the phone etc, and or trigger cameras.

With the smart app I can trigger the fan when I pull up in the car, before I even open the garage door.

I think I'll add a smart switch to my small air compressor as well maybe. The compressor is remote in my shed, but controlled by a wall switch in the garage. With all the battery tools I leave the compressor off to save power and wear and tear.
With a smart switch I can run up the pressure and or turn it off (if I forget) any time I like.
Is that fan rated for combustible atmospheres? Gasoline fumes aren't the best company for sparks...

mapping out where I want to score some 1/4” deep cuts into my garage. Thinking one Across the front of the vehicles that predominately sit in there as well one cut down the middle and one cut just inside the door. More for water containment as the low spot in the middle which will route the water out the door.

Clean up day.
Ran across a spare flashlight. Bingo, just what I needed to see where my mig wire is. I tried this once before attaching a light to my gun. Fried it from splatter in 3 minutes. This should survive longer.
One of the biggest improvements next to wearing cheaters under my helmet to make a decent weld.

Got the last of the beam shaping done in the garage this morning and first coat of stain on the short crossbeams.
Still need to cut some saddle notches in the tops of the erected beams, but the winds are gusting 30mph+ so hell with that evolution today.
Big beam halves set aside to finish drying, before I glue and screw them together at their half-lap joint.
Should have it all assembled by the end of the week.

Next up in the garage is figuring out how to bend large 4" grid wire panels into U-shaped troughs for the stone gabion wall out front.

Not a damn thing. Spent too much time tracking down a dead critter under the house.

Spoiler alert. Didn’t find it. Now it smells like absolute death in half the house when the HVAC is running. So I’m thinking it’s in the ductwork somewhere. I inspected the ductwork and besides old repairs and old breaks, there’s no new signs of entry. At least not for anything big enough to smell THIS bad!

Some of my shipment arrived today (shop towels). Waiting on a replacement hub bolt to arrive as well as more anti seize and blue loctite. (Blue loctite for hub bolts and anti seize for hub mating surfaces). Apparently I am out of both? Can’t find either bottle. Either I’m out, or those were taken too when they stole from me. But what odd **** to steal!

Brought the sleds in to add ice scratchers. Most of the snow out here is gone :(
IMG_7779.jpeg
Our last run everything was a sheet of ice, I broke one scratcher and then 50k from the truck broke the other one. Took a long time to get out stopping every 2k to hand pack snow on the rear cooler to get the temp light to go away.

Did a little soldering on a small project.

Then I got the Harley on the lift. Was going to start swapping parts, but the wife got home and wanted to clean out the chicken coop.

Took off the front bumper on the chevelle. I didn’t like the way it fit, working on getting it to align better. It may be a slightly bent bracket, slightly bent bumper (very subtle) and/or the bumper filler panel is slightly beat up too. Combination of all those make it look like it doesn’t fit correctly.

Absolutely nothing! I was invited to go 4 wheeling in the Sierras east of Sacramento for the day. Great trip, most of the area is free of other traffic so the trails were pristine snow pack.
