Does anyone recognise this little winch, or chain hoist? It is OD in color, the chain is the size of a Motor Cycle, and it is the smallest one of it's type i have ever seen.
I picked it up last weekend, and the owner had no details. As you can see the data plate information is all but gone, except for the number shown. Any info., or links would be appreciated.

Thanks

pics of my hoist. it has a handle that can be moved from 90 degrees to straigt and locks in place with a spring loaded pin. somewere along the line the button to adjust the ratchet mechanism on it was lost or broken and a washer brazed in it's place. it is not as easy to use as lever hoist with a log type chain but it does work and i have used it on occasion. hope thes pics help you out

Thanks Very Much for the pictures "sk farmer"! You solved my mystery! Mine is a 500 pounder, but looks identical, just smaller guts i guess. I now have a 3 page parts break down for mine. If you ever need a copy shoot me a pm.

I am wanting to buy a mighty midget 1000# chain winch (puller). They are no longer made by the Coffin Hoist Co. in Charlotte, N.C.

They were mostly red in color but some were made for the Army in Olive Drab.

I saw several threads by people that had them under the title of "Vintage looking "Chain winch" Identification last June (?).

Some said they had one and some said they had never used them.

Let me know if you have one that you're willing to sell.

Same here. Was given it by a friend. Don't really have any use for one.

I would like to purchase a mighty midget 1000# chain winch made by the Coffing Co., Charlotte, N.C.

Would you be interested in selling yours?

I'm in Wash. state; phone #360 733 4597

sk farmer:

I received your phone call this a.m. I'm retired and it was around 7am here in Wash. state when you called. We're not early risers. I would have liked to talk to you about the puller.

I just became a member a day ago and am finding it hard to find and understand how Garage Journal works. Apparently my "quick thread" I did yesterday worked. Hope this reaches you.

Please call again.

I have one identical to yours. The US Army used these in the 60s-70s to pull the breach block off the 105 mm main gun in an M60A1 tank. My data plate says; MIGHTY MIDGET PULLER, COFFING HOIST CHARLOTTE, NC, CAPACITY 1000 LBS. The number on mine appears to be the serial number.

I need a replacement hook for mine if you have any leads?

Thanks
