I have a new 36x36 pole building under way with 2) 10x10 bay doors planned. On one side of the building is a 12X36 lean-to, roof-only extension. The build pack specified some rather cheaply-made Wayne and Dalton 10X10 8200 series doors and the cost is $5400 installed. That's with no windows, no steel back, and with crappy Styrofoam insulation. The next (much) better door is the 8300 which has steel outside and inside and has expanded insulation and it's even a little less expensive. But with some glass across the top and high reach tracks, they're going to cost about $7000 installed and won't be available for 6 months if I buy them now. And that's if I go with white only! I'm seriously choking on the price and along with the increased costs of wood and steel for this project, these doors are budget busting.
I'm seriously considering sliders now but am uncertain how they would work. If you picture the building -- 36 ft wide and divide it into 3, 12 ft sections, the farthest right third and the center third each would have a 10X10 opening. The 12 section on the left third next to the lean-to will have only a window. The man door is from the side under the lean-to roof.
Clearly the center door slider can slide left across the face of the left third of the building where there is only a window with no issues. But what about the bay farthest to the right? Where would it slide to when opening?
I guess that I could redesign the whole thing and put the two bays each on the outside leaving the middle open but I'm not liking the look of that.
My last pole barn build (28X28) had a single bay along the far right side and had a slider that I didn't mind too much in terms of opening manually. But two doors next to each other presents a new problem.
I'm just looking for ideas at this point on how to get through this without spending $7K on doors that used to cost $3K and that I can't get for another half a year. Any input appreciated!
Thanks up front!
