Does the Tall Shift Knob Assembly work in the non high speed ratchet ?Decided to try something and it worked.

… equals the smallest-headed long neck 3/8” battery ratchet on the market, with zero modifications needed. The “tall shift knob” assembly intended for the new high speed 3/8” ratchet is a direct fit:
I went with the “tall” shift knob because I love how easy it makes operating the switch, especially with gloves:
It’s not as fast as my Snap-on CTR717 1/4” long neck (250 RPM vs the Snap-on’s 350) but it’s a little stronger, and that’s why I wanted to try to convert it into my long neck 3/8” ratchet. Pretty happy with the result.

Snap-on comfort grip pick set. From eBay. I like this handle I was going to buy a hard handle set but found a really good deal on these because they are pretty much new. Let’s just say I got yelled at by some people for paying $50 for them but a lot of it was shipping and in my opinion it’s a good deal because it’s still cheaper than the truck, I can get them warrantied if needed and this handle is discontinued so it’s kind of cool anyway. I wanted to upgrade from my Icon set they are nice but just don’t stand up well especially the 90 degree pick which I’ve had to bend back into place several times. I will keep the Icon set in the box and these will be my everyday in the cart.
Also had some vintage tools from a member on this forum come in I paid for them it’s a good number of sockets and a big wrench and I think a brake spoon and extension for my P&C Tools collection. Also had 8 hammers come in today too. And yeah you can imagine they didn’t like that either and told me I’m a fool in a very loud voice lol. I will post the hammers later when I can get some pictures. They are upset because I didn’t ask permission to buy anything. They came home to 6 boxes sitting there 5 of which were mine

The first gens aw11 are getting very hard to find. Gen 2’s sw20 are still a good bit but it’s usually NA cars that are clean otherwise a well sorted turbo model can fetch 15-20k and well beyond for 94-95 models

Had to pick up some plumbing parts at Lowes. So to kill some time I walked around in the tool section. Ran across this Wiha bit driver set. So of course I had to buy it. To compare it against the Klein and Engineer bit drivers. Like most of these small drivers there is a lot of plastic.
The Engineer is still the smallest, I put a Phillips bit in it and the bit barely protrudes.

I put the valve stem tool in the case.
Then spotted this Performance Tool dead blow for $5 and grabbed it.

Snap-on pocket screwdrivers. My dealer only has red ones I’m like man I need some colored ones because everyone has red only a few people have the other colors. Plus I collect them so the more colors the better. I was looking for a whole bucket of them but couldn’t find one. They also have black which is the next color I’m going to try to get. These came from eBay. I’m still interested though if anyone here has any from any brand wanting to get rid of let me know. Funny too because I ended up finding an orange one in the parking lot today but I knew who it belonged too because he lost it about a month ago and I gave him one of mine so I’ll be returning that to him on Monday.

Great, another tool I really only need occasionally that now I HAVE TO HAVE! You folks are hard on the pocket book, and as soon as I get my Vessel fix, and a few more Knipex in my collection (can't just sit at unlucky 13 for too long) I'm going to have to look for a set of those Langs.I joined the club finally, couldn’t hold out any longer - need it for a job this weekend.

Yesterday I finally gave up on my 1988 3x21 Makita Belt Sander. Started looking I kind of was tipped to a 3x21” Metabo for a shade over $200. I need a 3x21 as I have a lot of belts in reserve. Did a quick look a found a new B&D for a few pennies over $40 out the door. Not my first choice but the price was right maybe it will burn up the belts I have and then I can figure out what I need for the future. Who knows maybe the B&D will go the distance.

Ever since I saw this Gedore Red (not German made) set on Amazon it was lurking in my basket for months. I don’t really need it but I finally pulled the trigger. The tools seem fine to me but I’m not super fussy as long as it works. Ratchets are smooth and sockets and other items seem decent. The hammer is a nice component and unusual for a boxed set like this.

I took advantage of the essentials sale from KC Tool. I think it was a promo tied into the Olympics but basically it was buy one tool on their essentials list and you would get another half off. This order is the only one with everything in stock. All my others are on months long backorder.
I got Stahlwille bit holding sockets in 1/4 and 3/8 drive and some Knipex. I’m getting more into using bits for housework so I don’t have to go back and forth finding the right driver. I just bring my bit holder set and boom, I’m going to go. And I’ve never had a chance to try the Knipex Cobras everyone raves about so I figured why not try.

Welcome to GarageJournal! I don't want to do the math on things I own specifically because of this joint. That said, most of them have been fantastic additions, including that Lang set. While it's not used often, I'm really grateful to own it - it has turned several things that would have been "OH $&!+" moments into "Well **** - time for the Lang!" and gracefully addressed the issue.

I'm fully aware of the peer pressures, just have to prioritize the topics, lol. Today's haul was purely to fill slots in my socket trays, because everyone here knows that empty socket slots are akin to blasphemy!
And... I was looking at the wrong tray. Back to the store I go.

We recently converted all the cordless tools (expect for the jaws of life) on our rescue truck to a single battery system, so it was a good excuse to shop Milwaukee.

for every day use i wouldnt count on BD lasting long. occasion use youll get a few years from it im sure. orange BD is cheap mediocre at best. you using it 3hr a day or 3hr a month is the question

Three times in 18 months we needed to change tires and had to do it using a combi tool as a jack and manually taking the lug nuts off and back on. Once on the shoulder of I-10 at night, so speed would have made it much safer. And any tool on the truck can also be used in the station. As far as other uses on scene, you never know what you might need.
