So I bought a used CP715 air hammer that came with a snap on PH200D quick change chuck on it and I'm having a heck of a hard time removing it from the threaded barrel. The issue is that the part that threads on to the barrel turns both in the left and right direction, but won't actually thread out or even tighten for that matter. I can't tell if the threads are stripped or if there's a special way to remove this chuck? Every snap on air hammer video I watched, no one seemed to bother taking off the chuck .. So I have no clue.
The threads on the barrel of these air hammers are fairly heavy duty so its hard to believe them being stripped. Generally these chucks have set screws that need to be tightened once the chuck is threaded on but I don't see any on this snap on chuck. So, I'm hoping theres something other than the threads that are preventing it from spinning out. There is a small pin hole on the back side of the chuck that I hope is for an alignment pin or something that helps thread it out?
In any case , the air hammer works so I can leave it on there for good but it would be nice to take it out and clean it up or thread it on to another hammer if need be.
Has anyone had this issue or know of a way to take this chuck out?
