What do I have here ? I think it is a heater.
Stamped J. KINGSLEY 1893
Has a reflector that slides up and down the exterior.
Base screws off.
Base has a cleaning rod(?) that you can rotate from the bottom of the base.
Or that rod holds the wick assembly in place.
Base has a collar that unscrews and allows wick tube to come out and fuel to be added. Alcohol maybe ?

My search skills may be lacking as I dont find any data.
Anybody familiar with this piece ?

Known as a 'Davy Lamp', invented in 1815 by Humphry Davy. Here's the statue of him in Penzance, holding one of his lamps. I think the shield on the side of your lamp is for something to do with gauging the height of the flame.
The final design was very simple: a basic lamp with a wire gauze chimney enclosing the flame. The holes let light pass through, but the metal of the gauze absorbs the heat. The lamp is safe to use because the flame can't heat enough flammable gas to cause an explosion, although the flame itself will change colour.
He refused to patent his design but freely allowed use of it, so the lamps were quickly and widely made by many manufacturers (which kept the expense down for the miners) and it has saved many lives. :rocker:
