Ridgid Jobmax going away?

Noticed the heads and cordless version of the jobmax are missing at the Home Depot. They only had a couple of the corded ones. Not much online either. Are these tools going away? I love mine and use it often. Bought just about every head for it. Not as powerful as the full size but very useful and often easier than carting a bunch of individual tools. Sometimes the small size, and often right angle heads, are a plus.

Yes they are discontinued. Not sure why as it is a very useful tool for the reasons you gave. Local HD had one 18v unit on clearance last week so I bought it as an extra and backup. No heads available in the store. Bought a few heads I didn’t have, right angle drill, recip saw, along with a 12v unit on eBay.

Mine is an 18V unit so I can swap batteries with full size tools. I am so glad I got mine. Hoping it lasts (or can be repaired!) for the rest of my life.

You still can get some of the stuff at Direct Tools. They have 25% off store wide for the 4th that ends today.

I dont think I would trust Ridgid to be able to do a warranty repair of a Jobmax in a few years. They will be out of parts. So when I come across a cheap used unit I buy it as a backup. Found an 18v unit at a flea market a few years ago for $20. It was a bit rough but it works. Actually handy to have 2 of them on hand.

It is a real shame that they would discontinue the tool. I have all three versions and use them all the time. I can only imagine they may be not be as big of a seller with all the competition out there. I suppose a person who is looking for this tool isn't willing to pay for an add on tool that costs half as much as the dedicated tool. I don't know but I am very disappointed in Ridgid not.

I have the 12v,18v, and a 110vac jobmax units and most of the attachments, and I love all of them. The Jobmax tool is the reason I started buying Ridgid tools and I became a loyalist to the brand. I have bought an air compressor, tile saw, trim saw, drills, impacts and more so now I feel that they have betrayed me. I suspect they may not have been making enough money from sales of this tool to keep their shareholders happy but in doing so what they fail to realize is they have sacrificed customer loyalty for a few bucks. I believe the future will steer me towards Dewalt or Milwaukee.

I'd guess they'll plan to be able to honor the warranty. But any expectations beyond that should be pretty minimal (i.e. nothing).

This is why I decided not to do a "house" brand when I decided to replace my Craftsman C3 products. I wanted to avoid being subject to the product-line decisions of a box store for marketing whims and battery platforms (24v !!!!! pgNW3y.gif). That took Ryobi, Kobalt, Craftsman and a number of other brands out of the picture and left Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita and a few others. (I went with Milwaukee and am very happy)

I started buying into jobmax right before they discontinued it, had to buy a couple heads from direct tool and actually got the ratchet head from Russia as an AEG item (as they are now releasing ginormous looking 18V ratchets next month) I really like the versatility and being able to grab my case and go help someone has been real nice. Yea the jigsaw isn't as good as my full size one, but for quick and easy stuff it works well.

Really not sure where TTi is trying to slot Ridgid in, it kinda just floats around while Milwaukee and Ryobi get all the development. Not too enthused about the new designs that are finally coming out either, it just looks cheaper.
