Hey all I just acquired a new to me Bridgeport milling machine. It came with a power feed for the x travel but the motor is 3 phase. I’m already going to run a VFD for the spindle motor and would rather not have to get another one for the power feed so I was looking into changing the motor. Unfortunately it’s an oddball frame size and I can’t really find much with a google search. The frame is G48CYZ....can any of you translate that into a single phase motor frame size I could use? I’ll post a picture of the motor plate.

Must be oem number couldn't cross it. Good motor shop could look at it make a suggestion or talk with a vfd company for a drive to run it. Usually twice the hp for single phase to three for a blower motor.

I may just call a local place thank you for trying.

I already have one for the main motor I mean I’d probably get a cheaper one for that I just didn’t want wires everywhere if a motor was the same price or even a little more I’d go that route just for a cleaner install

I'll bet it's way cheaper to pick up a good quality 1HP VFD that'll run single phase input (probably all of them, lol) than it would be to buy a motor.

A VFD will run you a couple hundred dollars, plus any control switches. You might find a motor on eBay but it is probably s long shot.

Keep in mind you do not want to disconnect the motor from the VFD so the factory reversing controls need to be bypassed and use the VFD to reverse the motor.

As for the feed motor, are you going to use it enought to justify it?

you can find a WJ200-002SF on ebay for under $100 delivered.

who wants a half-working mill? i want all the features I paid for!

you can probably use the factory controls to run the VFD.
