Does anyone have any experience with Channellock brand flare nut wrenches? I have read posts and watched videos about other brands out there (both good and bad) but haven't seen anything on Channellock brand. A set of 3 metric wrenches (10mm/12mm, 13mm/14mm, 15mm/17mm) is $19.99 at Do It Best Hardware. That's a seemingly low price... is the quality going to suffer at that price point? As always CL makes products in the USA which I like from an economic standpoint but I know isn't always indicative of higher quality. All thoughts appreciated

I'll be the first to admit many tools out of Taiwan are plenty good enough to sit in my boxes. I have no experience with those to say one way or another though. I used to use my flare nut wrenches a lot more than I do these days and got burned too many times by old USA Craftsmans before I finally forked over for Snap-ons. They always seemed to be waaay too expensive for me until I realized they weren't.

CL's aren't included here but this might still give you some food for thought about how those probably compare to the others tested..

I've actually watched that video a few times now, its very informative. I have been considering the SK or Matco for my use based on this video alone. A decent combination of price and quality. I don't enjoy using junk tools that just plain ****, but I also don't need the top tier Snap-On for what I do, so I have to balance it out and find the middle ground.

If you watch the video link above, Quinn ranks next to last.
Nope, never watched the video. I didn't even know it existed until I saw the link in this thread. It's a $40 set of flare nut wrenches, not a new car. I didn't think that level of research was really warranted.

But even after watching the video, and considering the brake work I did last week, I don't regret my decision to purchase the Quinn.

I have no problem with tools that are made in Taiwan. They tend to be quite good.

A point of clarity: Taiwan's official name is Republic of China. Taiwan is NOT a part of what we typically think of as China, which is The People's Republic of China. Taiwan is an independent country, a fair trade partner, and a democracy.

I fully support and am pleased with products from Taiwan. The people’s republic of China… not so much. For tools I try to look for Taiwan, USA, Japan, or European companies.

For now, but tensions have been rising, and, depending on how that conflict we can’t talk about is resolved, the future of the region isn’t entirely predictable.

I’ve had mostly good luck with tools from Taiwan so far, but I sometimes feel I am relying on bling as an indicator of quality, and I know in my heart that the bling is a sales motivator that doesn’t contribute to function.
