I can imagine initially thinking that trapping a problem skunk would be a good idea until I actually ended up with a skunk in a trap. At that point, I would question my logic and wonder WTH do I do now?
Obviously you've already thought through this (?) so what do you do once you catch one?

Approach the cage so they cannot see you. Drape a sheet or blanket over the cage. I do not think they will spray if they cannot see. Hard part is approaching it initially unseen and releasing them into the wild.

Rage fixed something that’s been ******* me off for decades. When I change the oil on the tractor the drain plug just drains all over. Couple of fittings and 2 feet of hose.
Anyone else rage fix stuff?

Oh heavens yes, second and last drippy, messy compressor oil change, during and after pics.

Washed & detailed the ST.
Then diagnosed the issue with the Dyson vacuum cleaner as owner/operator error. She was somewhat embarrassed by the amount of stuff that was stuck in the tube.

Cleaned the mower deck and changed the blades on the John Deere LA 105, and then found out the mower needs a new spindle. Just ordered one on Amazon.

Refreshed my bench grinder.

I was given this bench grinder back in 2000.
IMG_3341.JPG

I had some free time yesterday, so I decided to give it a good cleaning and paint it.
I also installed a wire-wheel on one end.

The stand is made up of an old car wheel, a section of pipe and flat plate. I plan to fill the upper half of the wheel with concrete to make it a bit more stable.

Over twenty years ago I mounted my Harbor Freight grinder in the same way. I used a 15" steel car rim and a chain link fence post. The post was a great fit in the rim's center hole. The post touches the ground. I welded the post to the rim and it has worked great without extra weight. All I have to do to move it is lean and roll. I suggest you try it as is before adding the concrete. Of course I don't work mine any harder that wire brushing bolt threads and sharpening mower blades.

Fixed some lights on pops truck. It was not bad little windy but it was warm outside so not that bad. One of the heat shrink connectors had started to come loose so I put another one on after cutting the old one off and extended the wire on another light that the harness was not long enough so the socket would not reach the light. I just spliced some wire in and it was fixed. Don’t think I didn’t make him taken me to Harbor Freight afterwards LOL. Every time I do anything with wiring it makes me remember how much I hate standard wire strippers. Lol.

Finished up moving tools over from my old SO 78 to the new to me KRL. I ordered some vinyl wrap samples and put them on a drawer front to get a better idea of what I wanted. I still don't know......

Finished up replacing the upper and lower control arms on the rear of the GX470, and replaced the drivers side valve cover gasket. Also installed the SAIS bypass kit. Washed her up and polished the headlights, applied a fresh coat of Rain-X to the glass.

It was a half way decent day here just outside Englewood, Oh. I replaced the pads and front rotors on our Edge.

Had to get my 10 lb sledge and thump the tires and rims off, and both rotors ! Gracious what a time !

Finished replacing the door and fender on our Volvo with color-matched used parts. It was backed-into in a parking lot by someone last month

Replacing the parts was cheaper (parts only) than going the route of deductible and insurance hassle.
01_damaged fender and door.jpg

04_door and fender removed.jpg

I used rivnuts in place of all the rivets I drilled out when I swapped the original door components over to the replacment door.

I'm trying to reduce the number of projects I have going around here, but it doesn't help when others make projects for me

I completed these two jobs yesterday:

Last Saturday, a contractor had left over concrete from a swimming pool apron pour ay my son's place (next door), so I added some to the bench grinder stand base.

Yesterday, I prepped the stand's base (automotive wheel) and painted it.
IMG_3366.JPG

Saturday afternoon, I welded a couple sections of steel grating to make a shelf for the fab table. I rolled the table outside of the shop to paint it. Before rolling it back inside, I'll wire-brush the tabletop for a clean surface.
IMG_3371.JPG

IMG_3370.JPG

Question: When not using my table saw, after cleaning it, I apply paste wax to help prevent surface rust buildup.
What is best for an in-shop fab-table top?

1) Apply a light coat of oil?
2) Apply paste wax?
3) Apply nothing (leave it dry)?
4) ___________ ?

Made a previous opening in the engine compartment larger to feed the new fuel line through. New fuel line ran from engine compartment to fuel pump.

About **** my damn drawers. Was bending down to get something from under my bench & we had the biggest sonic boom that I've heard since we had Shuttles land at EAFB. Rattled the entire house, actually heard wrenches clatter together in the toolbox across the garage, set the dog barking & knocked my ISP off line for a while. Heard a bunch of car alarms going off at the college.
I'm well impressed :)

I remember visiting family in E.Germany in my youth (early to mid-80's) and hearing the sonic boom over my uncle's house as the MIGs patrolled the Iron Curtain.
I can't even imagine that. The closest thing to that is when 9-11 happened, there were fighter jets flying for a good 24 hours. No sonic booms, but a constant sound of fighter jets, it was crazy. I live close to an international airport, I assume that's why they were in the area so long.

Hey, Ben, the next time you have to remove a wheel you think might be stuck, first crack the lug nuts loose, then move the car a couple feet and slam on the brakes. I've only one time found that it didn't work and had to resort to a big hammer.
Another (proactive) solution I've heard of is a very light coat of RTV where the wheel contacts the drum/rotor.
Its easily broken free and there's no lubricant that could get on the brakes.

I went the same route with an Olds Intrigue we had. Replaced 3 drivers side fenders (1 for wife and each kid) and both drivers side doors. Sourced them thru car.part.com and kept the car reasonably presentable with matching body panels.

Electrical repairs on my sons '19 Kia Soul. He took it to the dealer for a CEL, they quoted over $500 to repair wiring chewed by rats. Made a solid repair and cleared the codes. His assigned parking place is next to a dumpster, we'll be searching for some preventative measures.

Farted around with a couple projects for my wife. She’s into McKenzie, Childs treatments with a twist. Wanted a “foot“stool. Heres first concept. Ive discovered I don't have an ankle fetish. Will be foam and fabric covered.
Need advice on a base for a tractor seat stool. Ive got seats and a nice big link chain from a honey wagin for the post. Need something novel for the roll about base. Regular old car wheel is out. Might try a jack stand. Ideas?

The mower is turning into something I’m proud to mow with.

One of the last things I do with anything is cosmetic upgrades, until it runs and drives decently.

So, I bought a used grille and headlight assembly off eBag. It was cheaper to buy the thing complete, than purchase each part separately.

I went out running errands today. Had to get some grease for my grease guns (each gun holds a different grease for different applications). Got back, and the grille was here! Promptly swapped them out (4 screws and about 10 minutes).

AND, since they’re used parts, they fit the “patina”. Looks like I never swapped anything out.

Also while out running errands, I filled 2 5 gallon fuel jugs. One with diesel for the torpedo heater if it gets too cold, and one of gasoline for when the deck belt arrives, I have fuel on hand to do some mowing when weather permits.

Finished the install of LED taillights in the '66 Charger. They have switchable turn signal patterns, which is pretty cool.

Grabbed an old fan from the dumpster at work. Started the tear down. Will need lots of wire brush work before paint, then new electrical cord.
Upper section is supposed to slide up and down, but not sure if it's gunked up or the lower portion is tweaked because it only slides up and down a few inches...
