New Driveway: 130 yards of Concrete

We live in a house built in 1953. It was the ranch house on a ranch that was subdivided into acerage lots 15 years ago. The old ranch driveway was asphalt and was getting progressively worse, so we had it redone in concrete. The pictures are first looking northwest toward the road (it's about 100 yards from the gate to the road), then looking west, then south. The concrete stops at a large pad to the left of the metal building in the third picture. I was standing right in front of the small garage by the house. The metal building in the last picture is 40 by 60 but looks smaller in this pic. Total concrete: 130 yards.

I don't really know. The entire job was just under 40K.

Are you gonna apply any sealer to it?

It would be a shame to get that oil spotted but then again, enough sealer to seal all THAT would be $$$. Just curious.

We visited a friend in Ga. When we pulled in, I commented to him that his driveway never would happen in MTL. Too damn long to shovel the snow off in winter. Tex, I don't mean you any harm, but I'd love to see that with about a foot of wet powder on it.

It'd be a hell of a cold front and snow storm to get a foot on that driveway. He's a bit north of I-10, south of Comfort and near San Antonio. If it get's cold down there, it's damn cold here.

I figure he paid in the 100+ range for the concrete. $40K comes in at $300+ a yard with labor, figure labor a good 2/3s of any price maybe more. Runs about 110 a yard here I think.

I grew up in Maine and was stationed in North Dakota, among other cold places. Life is too short (at least for me) to shovel snow. No plans to seal it - all the car work happens inside the garages, so I hope I don't need to.

I priced concrete a couple of days ago here in Georgia and was quoted $95 per yard with a $100 delivery fee per truck. I was thinking it would be a little higher than that...

130 yds of concrete @ $130/yd + labor = $20000.00 for the driveway (thereabouts or more)...I'd make sure to also have a nice little Kubota diesel 4x4 with a 5' Pronovost snowblower on it !

I have a 30 horse Kubota 4x4 but no cab or snowblower.

If it ever actually snowed a foot deep here and I had a snowblower on my Kubota I'd be the King.

Did you buy 130 yards of concrete or is it a 130 yard long drive way?

What kind of reinforcement did they put down before they poured it? Does it have expansion joints? Do you have any construction pictures?

The metal building has a small concrete apron in front of it. I have noticed that if I am pressure washing something out there and make the mistake of washing something off the concrete I end up spending half an hour making it perfect. So I will have to resist the temptation.

Looks great. Kind'a the norm around here. Mine is 123 yds. Like yours, mine was/is raised quite a bit above ground. It took 13 yards of top soil to level the drive with the yard!! Didn't see that coming!
