I was wondering if anyone had any more info on any of these tools I posted before in my JC Penney box find thread.

I'm most curious about the big one at the top and the red handled one in the center, but if there is anything of interest to be told I'd love to hear it!

Thanks!

Well, I see a couple brake tools (red handle, and the bent one above it), and one of the combination wrenches that looks like an adjustable the way it flares to the closed end -- I've got a few and am starting to gather them.

That double-ended monstrosity upper left is an old design of a 'slip ratcheting' wrench that is only rarely better than useless.

A Williams or Armstrong or Vlchek or Bonney double open end in the middle, the black one?

Glass cutter to the left of the red handle.

That's what I can see from here.

Big score?

Big wrench on top looks like a hydrant wrench or some sort of water valve wrench. Or maybe a wrench off of a primitive piece of equipment.

Red handled tool??? Hmmm...... somebody will know. Looks like it's possibly for brake work??

The red handled tool is a brake shoe retainer spring tool. The big one at the top, well - it's a wrench. I'm assuming you know what the glass cutter is too, right?
Thanks, that makes sense it's for the brake retaining spring, and yes I know about the glass cutter! :)

I just wasn't sure if the top one was an old ford wrench or something like that, there really aren't any marks on it that I noticed.

Big stamped-steel wrench on top looks like a blade-changing wrench for something like those big gas-powered saws which used abrasive wheels to cut concrete, steel, fiberglass, etc (like Stihl "quickie" saws...which use chainsaw motors).

Long horizontal tool on bottom appears to be a drill bit extension..you put your bit into the end at right, and tighten down a set screw.

At far right is one of those very-old, very-sturdy screwdrivers. Steel in handle is all-one-piece with the shaft. Steel end is able to withstand hammer blows without much damage to wood handles. But that's why most screwdrivers of this type, when found today, have damaged tips.

Double-open-end wrench placed horizontally above glass cutter is very thin, and designed to be used to adjust tappets (early type of OEM solid valve lifters).

Cheers!

Cool info, thanks Lump!

I actually already had a drill bit extension, so now I have 2!

Those small kinda shiny open wrenches appear to be like the cheap junk wrenches you get with some power tools for bit or blade changes. Probably not worth the aluminum they are made from. The socket thing next to the red handle brake tool looks like a spark plug socket. Kinda looks specialty though.

The red handled pliers on the left side of the pic appear to be adjustable wire strippers. Above them is a spade drill bit.
thanks
