While touring a local antique store with the wife, I came across this little one drawer box. For the asking price of $3, I couldn’t resist procuring it. It’s about 7x7 square, and there’s some .750 flat strap coming out the sides that has been cut off (was a handle maybe?). There was clearly a half moon shaped decal on top at some point, but it’s long gone.

Anybody got any ideas as to it’s origin?

It doesn’t have any latching provision on it, so it almost makes me think it was part of something like an old Suntune machine or balancer?

Yes, I'd grab that and any others for $3. Love it! Could very well have been used for tire supplies.

Thanks for the info!!

I wanted to make sure it wasn’t some collector piece that I’d ruin the value of by doing anything to it.

I’m thinking about throwing a fresh coat of red on it and using it for all the small tools that live on my desk.

My grandfather ran an "old country store" for many years. He had an old manual tire changer outside and fixed flats with the little gun that injected little tree shaped rubber plugs into the hole. He had a box VERY similar that kept the various size plugs, the little plastic cone tips, and the gun. I inherited it and it works great!

I've seen little parts boxes like that with tabs where your straps were removed to screw to the underside of a work bench/table.
