Added a single pole tandem circuit breaker. I had just enough wire to run an outlet up by the gable. Eventually Im going to add an attic fan at the gable. Ill probably add a couple of more single please tandem circuit breakers. I finally got tired of having my fire extinguisher on my bench. So I made a bracket out of old steel. I used my plasma cutter for the cuts.

Ewww fingers are missing a little meat! I ground the tip / top corner of my right index finger off in one. I saw the little cotton balls of the shop towel blowing in the wind and thought to myself 'ah I better sit this part down and use pliers'. It instantaneously sucked the shop towel into the disc taking my finger along for the ride. Luckily the table was super tight and it locked up the disc before removing my whole finger. Lesson learned never use shop towels to hold a part next to a grinder.

Yesterday, I used the Klutch welding bench to cut some aluminum for my pocket door install. It worked great! 👍

Yep i closed that gap right up afterwards, luckily it's a cheap harbor freight machine so it did flex apart a bit and the motor stopped for a brief second. Crushed the bones on both tips, and came very close to taking the tips right off. There's rip marks on the bottom side of the fingers, it looks like they were de gloved.

Swapped the tires on my mother's car out in the drive way, got three out of four complete before the rain and hail started coming down. Finished the fourth in the rain because I wanted to get them done before I cleaned up for dinner out with my wife.

Home from dinner, wife has a zoom game night with some of her university friends. I politely declined and decided I might try sanding down the oars for the tinner, so now I'm out in the shop making dust.

Not much. I did catch about 15 minutes to myself in the evening to work on something. I spent the time organizing my box of black pipe fittings. I removed all the plastic bags and sorted the 1/2" from the 3/4". Now it's much easier to tell what's available.

Installed the replacement thermostat in the ultrasonic. Quick resistance check and buttoned it up. Sitting upside down on the bench waiting for the rtv to setup on the fasteners, before it is returned to action. Printing on the 3d and then some pc design work. Dropped the FEL bucket in the truck and dropped it off for welding, picked it up late afternoon and it is ready for primer and paint! Moved, cleaned and restacked a pile of rough oak boards that need a trip through the planer. Found where the critters were carrying the pet chow, grrr.

I made a bench grinder stand. I welded a piece of angle iron to the bottom of the plate. I put the angle iron in the vise.

Went and traded some beer for another Ariens mower. It does not have an engine, but I got the Kohler in the simplicity to pop off. Pretty sure the carb needs cleaned.

Dang mower has a nicer deck than mine! Hahahaha
Looks like I’ll be swapping decks, and anything else nicer than mine over to mine, throw the kohler on the new mower, and some mulching blades. See where that gets me. It should be ok. Maybe. Lol.

So I went from no mowers, to four. In grand total, I have about $400 in them all. I don’t think that’s too bad???

Well, day didn’t end at the last post. I was gonna head to my brothers about an hour and a half away, stay the night, do some drinking or something. Then BBQ tomorrow. But I gotta meet someone here tomorrow lol. So I stuck around and did some more work on the mowers. Got the new to me/better deck on my mower. The spindles/mandrels are still surprisingly good, so my new high lift blades went on it. Also put on the new belt I ordered the other day ago that showed up the day after the other day ago lol. Now it engages and disengages without throwing the belt!

I’m currently looking online/Amazon for some cheap mulching blades for my old deck. I know I haven’t swapped engines yet, but I want to get the parts ordered so they arrive as I’m finishing. I have so much clippings and material clumped up all over the yard from when it was 2’+ tall. I’m hoping mulching blades will help some. The other option is to rake the yard. 5 acres. Oofta.

I tried to fix a flat on the lawn tractor. Made my own wheel puller. Wheel didn't budge and I snapped a 7/16 bolt.

Went to horrible freight and bought a wheel puller kit and found out none of the bolts fit the holes on my wheels. I put them through the other way and put washers and nuts on them.

Wheel still didn't budge and even started to deform the pulling holes. I tried to get some pb fluid in there and left the puller with some tension on the bolt.

I won't be able to get to it again until Monday.

I had plans to do half a dozen other things, but never got around to them.

I did get to go for a motorcycle ride with the daughter to get the puller. So there's that.

I have dedicated mulching blades for my mower and I'd say save the money. They are only marginally better when the mulching plug is in - about the same without.

I saw motivational post on the Internet this morning and it encouraged me to move some iron. While I was waiting for it to heat up I rummaged through a box from Grandpa's old garage and found some nice adjustable (Crescent) wrenches. Pretty excited to put some of his old American Made tools to use!

In the pile I found a few 'Crestoloy' branded wrenches. I don't think I even seen one branded with this terminology. It's a pretty cool piece of history!

So would a bagger system be a better i? I was hoping the mulching kit would suffice, as it’s <$100 VS a bagging setup which is >$400.
Like I said, it’s 5 acres. I’m not opposed to raking it. But man. It’ll take me a month of weekends. I really only need to do it once, as now that I have a mower, I can mow the grass often, and keep the height down, which should keep the clippings at a minimum.

My similar mower came with the mulching kit, and the spray chute. Even mowing twice or three times a week, it was messy, and had moldering clumps of clippings all over. Which made for bald spots next week, and erosion after a few rains. It also made a rather slippery mat at times. I finally shelled out for the bagger. So worth it. My large green smooth walkable thing is just that. You will need to allot a space for the clippings. A rather large space. I'm filling a hole. Like 80x20. It's going rather faster than I expected. You will need to invest in high lift blades. I like these. They're way less expensive than the factory fix, and a pair hold up for a season.
They have blades for lots of mowers if these aren't yours.
And you'll need to carry a long stick, like a cane, to clear the chute if the grass is too wet, or you mow a lot of sticks.

I picked up some Poulan high lift blades from rural king. They surprisingly do a decent job at throwing the clippings, and spreading them out. Though this last couple of passes, I’m trying to get them in a central location either for mulching or raking/bagging. The downfall, is that the clippings are still fairly huge. I’m hoping they don’t cause bare spots or erosion as you mentioned. I’m already fighting that with leaves that have been left on the yard for 2+ years.

Oddly enough, while perusing Amazon, I was looking at that brand blades, and figured the green was a gimmick of some sort lol. I may try them.

As far as the bagging system, that’ll have to wait for it to come back in stock now. Figures as soon as I was going to pull the trigger, it went out of stock. I found one that says it’ll fit a Husqvarna, and the ariens is basically a Husqvarna. But who knows.

Looks like raking it is, until later lol

On the mowing, While it wasn't acres, and only a walk behind, I used to use a side throw, and started at the upside and mowed all around the edge, and worked in to the middle throwing the clippings to the uncut part. Each pass further clipped the clippings finer. Worked great and if the last pass threw clumps I just re cut and scattered the clumps. Worked so well I much later bought a mulching walk behind. and it did well also.

Just loaded and delivered my 2001 Silverado 4.8l auto to the transmission shop. Original owner, 160k miles. Started slipping couple weeks ago, then a bad shudder when engaging the other day, now.."rattle rattle rattle thunder clatter boom boom boom".. nothing. It will move a few hundred feet at a time under 1000rpm. Shut it off, let it sit and repeat. $2,000-$2,500 around here for a rebuild. Great!

Been doing a little spring cleaning in the house and the garage lately. I cleaned up this 70s Snap on Tool box set I got for cheap 3 years ago, and sold it a week later.

Next up, this Craftsman box set that's been sitting around for a while also. This one has a lot of dirt and grease on it, so it'll get a Rustoleum refinish. I started degreasing and grinded some of the rust off late last night with a paint removal wheel, but I've got a lot more prep work before it's ready for primer and paint.

After hosting last weekends british car club tech session (mostly spring tue up and oil changes) the funnels grease guns, gear oil pumps left their marks throughout the garage. Funnel drain was built. Grease gun holders next!20220410_163014.jpg

Even my car got a bit of needed love.
