Two yard sales today grossed 4 times the ten sales I hit last weekend.

First sale got the two paint spray guns and mineral spirits.

Second sale hit a wrench and socket lode.
Also picked up some Snap-On and Craftsman screwdrivers, MAC vacuum gauge and Sears compression tester.

The wrench lode contained a few gems, but nothing to help add to the sets I’m building.
The socket status is about the same with mostly Snap-On, Proto, and Craftsman making up the majority of “keepers”.

Couple mystery tools in today's flea finds (Lugz 2022_22). The lady's foot pry bar is a Blue-Point and the tire gauge is a Yankee (Lundquist?). The strange pliers are marked but inscrutable so far. The other thing with the antique wingnuts appears to be some kind of flaring or crimping kit with a cutter. The mickey mouse wingnuts have Williams logo but the block itself says Chicago. I'll have to clean it up to decipher the markings and figure it out.

Flea finds today. Got out way late and still scored some cool things cheap.

I’m leaning towards the 1920’s Snap-On Milwaukee short 1/2” speeder as my favorite find, but this is a tough decision. Ran me 50 cents at my last stop, it was laying in the bottom of an old carry box.

Some close runners up though are the unique Bonney puller, Mr. Marvin Cowherd’s Japan made adjustable wrench/multitool, the extra long USM wire cutters, and the Craftsman die socket (I added a random cross bar from another vendor).

Dang, I like it all or wouldn’t have brought them home I guess.
Eklind Fold-Uni-Drive, Misc. Craftsman including an early open end and a long C, Blue-Points open end. Misc. Snap-On, Wizard tray with Indestro sockets and a short dbe, a couple Vulcan t handle and socket, Williams adapter and socket, Wright and Klutch ratchets.

Found a Walden 1/4 rat and unmarked Walden 1/2 rat.. Good Walden ratchet day in this thread!

misc sockets- Bonney connecting rod, early deep Blackhawk, Mac, Truecraft adapter, Corbin pliers, Diamond green wrench, neat P&C pliers, Matco green screwdriver. New Britain lock ring pliers, mini K-D and unmarked pliers, Heller wrench, a couple random knives, some punches and chisels(Mayhew,S-K, beat up Buck wood chisel).

i don’t recall what the antqique wood handle tool at the bottom is, but a guy thew it in. Tack puller maybe?

Yup. I bought it thinking I might possibly do something with it as part of a routine I have going with my daughter. She'll be coming up on 1,000 days sober. And "lit" is one of her most popular words. For 500 days, for example, I gave her a vintage Indy 500 pendant (just a "500" and a checkered flag) that she wears as a charm. This wouldn't be the whole gift, just a funny novelty thing, but maybe I'd scratch off a couple zeros and the word "when" so it just reads "1 ,000 Lit" and she could just put it on a shelf. I like to give them all corny things I find. They think it's a funny hobby, so I oblige.

Lugz, Maybe 1,000 not Lit?

3Bay - looks like a Heller/MasteRench pipe wrench crept in? And with a Hex for the hanger hole? 6"?

And the early Bluepoints DOE had Plumb Bob Arrows? Hmmm...

I agree on the tack puller based on what I see.

Blades/Make on the "American Camper? adn what is the Blur pocket knife?

Rush - How full on the DNA? Any time I get "prohibited in CA" chemicals anymore is a red letter day around here...

Cool finds all around!

If you all don’t mind, I thought I might give you a closer look on why I paid up for today’s Snap on haul. With some Bonney, KAL, and an SK Wayne tidbit.

The Snap on swivels is why I jumped on the box o stuff and I’m thrilled to get’em.
Haven’t finished sorting, cleaning the wrenches, ratchets, or drivers yet.

Found a very Cool JC Penny polished combination wrench set!
Mild use if at all.
Some wrenches look unused.

My friend and neighbor Steve has been dragging me to the Flea Market lately.
The last time it was for extension cords, this time for drill bits.

He got himself some nice new USA made bits and I found an almost complete set of JC Penny combo wrenches.
3/8 to 1-1/4 with 5/8 missing along with the 3/4 and 1-1/16 AWOL.

I asked the Seller what happened to the 5/8 and 3/4?
He just shrugged.
Can't remember.
Although he did say that he never had the 1-1/16

If anyone has the 5/8 (3454) and/or 3/4 (3456) that I need to complete this set, Please let me know
Let's make a deal!
Even the 1-1/16 (3463) if someone has one

I hadn’t seen any worthwhile sales today but spotted a late listing 5 minutes from home during lunch. The truckasaurus needed it’s battery charged anyway so we swung by. It was a wood shop closing down. I could have literally filled my garage with wood clamps but I settled for this little Union carry box. He let me name the price so that was cool.E96FC0F1-0BAC-4BD6-9112-7317CDDE9829.jpeg39F1734B-F5E3-433F-98E7-06E569840315.jpeg74E27DB1-FE49-4D89-AD1B-5ADAD896B096.jpegA8441675-E489-44F5-B0C3-D14123986A19.jpegCB64799F-6664-4F93-8C56-523EE938516C.jpeg

I snapped up a Blue Streak tune up cabinet and a bunch of small stuff.
The Electroluxe drop light is sweet.
the usual suspects include Plomb, SK, P&C, Craftsman and others.
Found an odd ACTION 3/8” drive ratchet that I’ll cross post in the vintage forum.
The Dual brand Plomb/Proto 1/2” ratchet was a first for me.
The wrench roll is Lectrolite.

Then I double checked a Craigslist add on a tool stack I sent a low ball offer on earlier. The add had been updated with the guys phone number and a name. I thought this stack would potentially be a good flipper unit since I have been having a few tool sales during garage sale season to bring in some extra money. Plus I get to cherry pick all the plomb and Proto 😂. Anyway, guy answers and tells me to head over. He also said he had some extra rollers if I was interested in working something out 😉. Music to my ears😂. I ended up getting everything pictured for $550 which included 3 roller stacks. Mixture of tool truck brands, craftsman, Proto, and flat out imported junk. Seller wasn’t organized or willing to take pictures. So much sorting to do but I think I have enough inventory now to have another sale 😂

Today started slow. Went to goodwill with my family and found these plomb and p&c drivers. Included with the long c cutters, I was all in for $4.50.
I haven’t ever seen a Plomb driver with the words on the shank before. Was that common?

Haro isn't bad for BMX, which I have no interest in. But those are pretty beat up and I don't see the other crank arm.

Mostly I was making a joke about how much stuff you got and the value of it.

Yeah I didn’t get the other arm I am pretty sure. But I figured you were making a joke 😜. I was more of a gt/dyno kid in my younger years than haro 😃

The American camper looks like just a basic imported multitool with pliers, etc.. . The blue knife is a Colonial USA. Might look decent cleaned up.

The Heller, yep, 6” with a hex hole.

Happy Easter everyone!

I went to an estate sale yesterday, no tools of interest, but found a glass dining table, 4 x 6 1/2' and best of all, 3/4" thick glass. It was priced about twice what I thought it was worth. Since today is the last day, half price day, I tried to get them to give me the half price yesterday. No dice, so I went back this morning and it was still there! I snatched up the price tag and went to pay. As I was taking greenbacks out, half price's worth the sale lady mentioned sort of offhand, it has to be taken TODAY by 3:pM. Say what?? At 250 lbs it's more than I can handle alone, and they have nobody to help. I called a couple of my folks and nothin' doing. Easter Sunday. So, what, they can't have a Monday morning pickup? Nope. They lost a fair-sized sale, and I lost a good deal on a hard-to-find item.
...and all this could have come out so fine if they just hadn't gotten greedy and turned down my offer.

Estate sales are almost always Take it today on last day - the job is to clear the house.
As I think about it, I've never before bought anything at an estate sale that I didn't take with me immediately, so the problem never arose. Clear the house is the objective all right, but so is maximize payment to the heirs - oh, and to the sales folks. On deeper thought, they only make a commission, and their percentage of a few hundred may not be much. Probably not enough to cover a special trip. Live and learn.

Just a thought that has been going through my mind as I read these posts every week (my favorite thread by the way)....I see a lot of guys buy random sockets, wrenches, etc. What exactly does everyone do with them? Make sets, make mismatched sets, trade, sell/flip? I used to buy anything USA made but have cut back because I found that the resell market is soft (for me at least) for anything other than MAC, Snappy, or Matco in my area. Other stuff will sell but not too well. Now I just look for the unusual or something I need/want or something that is too good to pass on and I can flip quick for my car/tool fund. So what's everyone doing with these treasures?

I bought anything and everything for a year or so socket wise. Organized them in plastic boxes by size and drive and then flipped them back to a favorite tool seller. Not worth it. Now I just try to pick up only SK.

That's kinda what I did for a while and found it wasn't very lucrative. I just have a hard time walking away from these tools when I see them lol. I am getting better though.
The only tools I absolutely can't walk away from are Vise Grips, breaker bars, some ratchets, hammers, and any body tools. I have issues.

You are not the only one with that particular issue...

There are whole categories of tools that I have enough of for the rest of my life. That does not mean that I am not going to buy more...

Having said all of this, I don’t need to become a hoarder. Having no interest in reselling tools, I am very picky. I will not even buy anything if it needs work. I stick with lightly used or NOS, for most things. Every so often, I give away a tools to an apprentice or a friend.
