Sunex magnetic socket adapters. Was looking at the magnetic extensions, but these adapters were only $6 on Amazon because someone returned them, so I couldn't say no.

Bought a new Mitutoyo 6" caliper.
This one will go into the reloading room and displace the Midway dial calipers that I have had for many years. The Midway unit will now move out to the garage. I don't use calipers in the garage very often but it's good to have one handy when the need arises.

I *finally* replaced my 1/2in ratchet. I'd had one from Kamasa since about '78. That STB about 15 years ago & I just used a 1/2 breaker on stubborn stuff or my 3/8 ratchet with a 1/2in adapter. A few years ago I found an old Indestro at the yard sale for about $2, but that developed severe clutch slip & became a garage ornament (it's actually sitting on my bench, I have no idea why)
So a couple of days ago I started looking. GW was more than I wanted to spend, Lowes had nothing that interested me, nothing on Amazon blew my skirt up, HF had a slew of 1/2in ratchets, not one of which met my very simple needs: Full polish, nothing with plastic handles (which I detest on ratchets).
Home Cheapo to the rescue! I've had a bunch of Husky sockets for years & never had an issue, I also have a bunch of Husky full polish combo wrenches, again no issues in 20 years etc.
Today I picked up their full polish 1/2in ratchet. Looks exactly how I expect a ratchet to look.

I went to HF today and was going to grab an Icon ratchet to see how they compare to my other brands. After seeing the prices...even with the coupon....I can get used Snap-On for not much more.
Bought a pair of 8" Doyle needle nose pliers for a friend and left...

How are you liking them? I was leaning towards the XR line, but the sale today made me impluse-buy these.

Lots of new tools today. Three different stops. First some pliers at Harbor Freight. Quinn 45 degree angle. I don’t have any short angled pliers so now I do. Also got the newly released Bremen vise grips with the deeper more grip bite I guess you’ll call it. Though I am angry they don’t say the brand on them. All of them were like that but the other Bremen pliers all had the name stamped on them. That drives my OCD up the wall. Then some long reach vise grips too. I know the Pittsburgh brand ones **** but I can’t find any other manufacturer of these. If anything lifetime warranty which anyone knows I will use a warranty without hesitation. Not really a need just a must have because I’ve had my eyes on them for years lol. Then a wrench rack for my SAE wrenches at work. I don’t have a rack for those just the metrics. 1/2 impact extensions. Something I have at home but not at work so I got some for work. Then zip ties because you need zip ties. Picked up another orange magnet and a paper towel holder for my work box. Staff said get orange while you can because they are having a really hard time matching that paint still so it maybe going on back order for the long run. There was one magnet and three glove holders and a few paper towel holders and nothing else orange at all.
Second, Black Mamba nitrile gloves. Really thick feeling even though they are only 6 mil still very tough. Used a set today they hold up with diesel very well. Also picked up some cool penetrating oil while there at that place. Going back to get more gloves sometime probably Monday or Tuesday as they are closed on Sunday.
Lastly, some Craftsman sockets I need for my cart. 11mm shallow, 23mm deep and 24mm deep.

Mismatch sockets don’t bother me lol. Only when they are a different height. Having over 2,000 sockets I certainly don’t need more sets of sockets though I do want more sets. Most of my sockets are from the pawn shop for ultra cheap so they aren’t in a set. Plus I like showing that I’m not bias against brands and that’s any easy way to prove it lol.really blake?

I drive everyone at work nuts because my SAE deep sockets are all different heights and broach depths. I rarely use them so it’s like why not pick them up cheap. But apparently that is not cool in my shop. LOL
Since the wife got her Jeep in January, we have been taking it more places. During a trip to Indy, I pulled the tools out of my truck to have, just in case.
I decided it was time to start putting a tool kit together for her vehicle. . . . One thing at a time.
Menards screwdriver set.
A set of SAE & Metric wrenches.
They are going to live in this DeWalt case after I cut the guts out of it.
Background: a tow strap and bag going in it as well. I'm grabbing a clevis or two for the bag

I needed a new welding cart to replace my little homemade cart since I acquired a tig welder. I was debating making another one but I've got so many other projects ahead of that in the queue. Plus, I wanted something with some storage.
Anyway, I saw harbor freight had the large Vulcan cart on sale for $359 down from $399 so I went to check it out. It seemed as well built as any of the US General boxes (of which I have several) and there's lots of storage so I decided to pull the trigger.
The salesperson was checking for stock and they happened to mention they had one that was open box for 20% off. I asked him if it was 20% off the sale price and he said "sure, why not?" so I felt even better about it at $288 + tax. It would have cost me half that much just for the steel!
Anyway, I got it all setup and loaded and I'm very happy. The only problem now is that empty spot on top is just calling for a plasma cutter

I live out in the country and I am pretty sure my lawn was seeded with hay because it literally grows 4 inches over night. So when I mow, I get a nice thick blanket of cut grass on top of my lawn that then needs to be mowed the next time and each time it makes my mower struggle more and more.
I mow around 5 acres a week so no chance of raking it. So after 5 years of dealing with this, I decided to buy myself a lawn sweeper.
I have been trying to find one at a yardsale but have not had any luck, so I finally pulled the trigger when I was at Rural King yesterday.
I'm excited to try it out.

- Icon 3/8" drive metric swivel impact socket set (used the HF 25% off coupon)
- Icon S-shaped metric box end wrench set (used the HF 25% off coupon)
- Vessel Impacta P2 and P3 screwdrivers
- S-K metric flare nut wrench set
I'm a little disappointed in the chrome finish on the S-K wrenches. This was the first set of the higher end wrenches that I've purchased for my home garage. The 10mm/12mm has quite a bit of roughness or pitting that I haven't seen before in all of my Icon, GearWrench or Tekton wrench sets.

before making assumptions one should look at facts. sk's superchrome is or was some of the best in the business. especially on the wrenches. here is the unknown. that picture does not show the wrench set very well. i can't tell for sure either but that appears to be an older set. if so many of the older line wrenches were not a polished finish. they were a rougher finish, similar to a satin but not that either.
either way the sk flare wrenches are pretty well regarded no matter the finish

I would somewhat agree with you. Sk certainly has had some financial woes and some of their chrome leaves a bit to be desired depending on the era of tools. However I would argue that they are marketed towards the professional tool user and usually higher quality materials wise and in the same market as snap on, Proto, mac, wright, matco, etc. However with their new financial woes, we shall see.

That wrench set looks old, post dresser era. Their chrome then was ****. Modern sk chrome is almost a mirror finish.

I was hoping to hear that. I had my boy put it together yesterday, hopefully i can give it a try tonight.
Needed an EZ-out so I bought sizes 1-6 and a case for them.
Still picking up tools one at a time for the Jeep tool kit. I was looking for a 16oz ball peen with a wood handle, in case I had to shorten it... couldn't find one but I find this Barn Star 2 pc set at TSC. The ball peen fits in the case.
