What type of insulation is this?

I saw a home nearby for sale and it had some interesting insulation in the ceiling/roof. Now that I think about it I feel like I have seen this type before but not sure where.

Eventually I would like to insulate my vaulted ceiling. I’ve researched options but never came across this in my research. Seems like a decent looking option that could save money by not having to drywall, finish and paint.

I agree. It's either vinyl or poly coated fiberglass. Can you get a peak under a corner or end to confirm? Let us know what you find.

Is this any different from the polypropylene faced stuff that larry_g posted? Do you have any links where to purchase online?

I agree. It's either vinyl or poly coated fiberglass. Can you get a peak under a corner or end to confirm? Let us know what you find.

Do you have any info about the difference between the two? I did some searching and am not finding a clear answer. It's not my house so I don't have an opportunity to see it myself. If there is an open house I'll try to go see it but definitely won't go pulling it off the wall to check unless the owner was there and gave permission. But owners are never home for open houses so I don't see that being likely.

Thanks for this, I had run into this site already but wasn't sure if it was right but now that I'm digging deeper into the website it does seem this may be the product. Unfortunately no pricing on their site and seems they cater to large, more commercial projects. I need somewhere I can get info and buy for a very small DIY project.

I submit a request through the first site but don't expect that to go anywhere. I doubt they want to deal with someone from CA with a small garage. Also found one site that had an online ordering interface and even had products that seemed more designed for my application (24" wide vs the typical widths used for metal buildings).

Still have some research to do on this. When insulating a ceiling/roof like mine there is always a lot of concern about moisture. Do it wrong and your garage will turn to mold is the general message you'll get from people. But, with this metal building style of insulation it seems no one cares about the same moisture issue. At least not to the same extent.

I may also try just knocking on this guy's door and seeing if he'll talk to me or maybe send him a letter. Wish I knew what beer he drank or I'd come on over with a case and see if he'll talk
