Garage / Workbench Photos?

Looking for photos of garage interiors featuring workbenches, including DIY. I have been unable to find any way to view photos without diving into a zillion threads in an effort to see the photos. Sure, there's a garage gallery, but same deal there. And there's supposed to be a garage gallery index with filters somewhere (I see references from 2012), but so far, no luck in finding the actual index itself. Google search isn't doing much. Am I missing something--or is there just no way to easily view the pictures for ideas? (For example, if I want to find work benches built around rolling tool chests (which I know I've seen here before)--my search terms are not finding them. Can't post this in the Garage Gallery forum, because then I have to choose a garage size, which prevents the post from being seen by most garage gallery viewers...

Thanks for any help!

Cool, thanks! Have you seen any where the workbench surrounds the tool chests? Wooden legs on the sides, down the middle between chests, etc.?

The most well known is the “Steevo” bench that has that feature with metal legs and surrounds.
Wow, that's quite a project. No one's walking away with that... Do you recall any wood surrounds?

Steevo link, in case others are interested:

This isn't built around rolling tool chests but sometimes I look for work bench photos and tool box tours just to get organization ideas. Hope this helps someone but this is how my lathe bench looks right now

Tool box, project area, left over table thst sets in the back the middle area is kind if everything from light fab to electrical. The back table tends to be a catchall for stuff

I like my tools hanging on the walls, they are easy to find and takes up no floor space. Bought pre-holed 2x1m sheet metal that i mounted on the walls to hang the tools on. Hooks and hangers i buy or make when I need them.
Bench corner.JPG
The bench is a beast, 2x1m with a 40mm solid steel top, weighs in at around 800kg, no need to bolt it down, it stays put. Bought it for scrap value from work a few years ago.

Nuts'n bolts are sorted and stored in the red/blue/yellow box rack, also wall mounted.

Built mine in 2014. Heavy duty and holding up beautifully.

Legs are 4x4, top is two sheets of 3/4in ply glued and screwed, bottom and back are left over ply. I've got chests of parts drawers inside. Might be kinda pricey nowadays given the price of lumber.

I also put an 1/8in thickness of masonite on top (ringed with 1in molding to contain it) for when the surface gets "mangey" so it is easy to replace.

This is mine when we first set it up. I bought Gladiator drawer sets and a workbench. The side cabinets I found at a used office clearance house....
Its never been this clean again....

Did you do a build thread?
No, it was pretty simple. 8' stud grade 2x4s with the bull nosing ripped off both sides. I glued them together in 12" wide x 8' long sections so they would fit through my planer. Once they were all identical I cut one piece in half so I could stagger the joints. I glued them together with biscuits. The front edge and legs were some scrap oak 2x3 dunnage I salvaged. The stain color is gunstock and the finish is several coats of tung oil. It's mounted to the wall with some pieces of angle iron. The wood is a little soft but the bench itself is rock solid. If you find my build in the workbench thread there might be a few details I left out.

This is my bench.. it looks like a wreck in this pic.. I promise its not as bad in person, I am in the process of cleaning up things..
I over built this thing and am probably going to have to re-do it. The side posts are 10' 4x4's its 8' wide and 30"ish wide, the two shelves are closer to 36" wide. My toolbox is a HF 44" x 24".
In building it I was not thinking about the overall size of the garage and size of bench.. its too deep for the garage, and I have mostly used it as a table to collect junk instead of a work bench. In a 20x20 garage it is over taking things..
I am in the process of realizing what I need and don't need.. and thinning things out drastically..

Nice. Dimensions? Explain the masonite thing to me; doesn't that dent and come apart easily? Why not wrap something tougher in sheet metal for the top? Any pix of the final bench?

Ha. Is there a build thread--and where did you find those old-school wheels? Have a set like that paired with a larger, non-swiveling set on an ancient platform cart I picked up somewhere; thing would hold up an elephant...

They're both buried in my garage build thread. Links to the posts that they start at below:

Where I got the casters is a long story, but in short you can get new ones from Surplus Center and I would imagine a bunch of other outfits as well:

I built my workbench. It is designed to be multi-use. I built it mainly for a motorcycle service lift table. That was in 2002.
The top is diamond plate. It is 98 inches long and 36 inches wide. I used two hydraulic cylinders from PRINCESS AUTO. One hydraulic cylinder was strong enough. I wanted to slow the lift rise speed with double cylinders. The remote electric over hydraulic pump system can be operated remotely. The hydraulic circuit has an adjustable valve on the return. I can adjust the return from zero to full flow. (red knob) The support for the table and the hydraulic height is a hinged (X)
I can move the lift table around the shop. one handed, with a motorcycle on the table. I made an inverted "fifth-wheel" handle that goes into a bracket on this table. I push down on the handle and the table rises off the floor. The other end of the table has two castiron wheels.
I have included a mount-point on other heavy shop machines. I use the same lift handle to move the other machines.
The battery in the hydraulic power unit has a booster cable connection and it is on wheels. We have used it as a battery booster. This unit has a cord rewinder for the built-on BATTERY TENDER.

I’m using two benches in garage shop right now. The first one is a reloading bench I made in 2013 that was inside before I closed-in and insulated the carport. I’ve recently updated it with a new top that includes some heavy duty t-track, new drawers and lag screwed it to the studs.

My second bench is my assembly and storage table that I made when I completed the shop. It’s made with a 4x4 frame using dowel joinery. It has 17 drawers, a face vise, and a paper roll holder on the end. I have the ability to attach folding caster wheels if I need to move it but it stays planted and levels on it’s 4x4 legs. The top is a single piece of 3/4” MDF topped with laminate sheet to make clean up easy.

Any shots showing the joinery? :)

There's a huge storage solutions / cabinets thread here already existing, which should quench your thirst for spoon-feeding.

52 pages, no waiting -

Thanks; some good stuff there. Also reminds me why I hate PhotoBucket (intrusive watermarks) and a half-dozen other photo services (gone under and their hosted photos gone ****!)...

The Masonite just sits on top, and yes it can dent, but it hasn't seperated. When it gets nasty I can just slide it out and replace it. The 1in wide molding around the perimeter is just right for containing the Masonite.

Steel top is certainly an option but a personal choice.

I may have a pic of the bench with the parts cabinets in place. Will post if so.
