My old Wagner finally died, so I picked up two of these cheapos at Harbor Freight. Got two because they had the coupon going. See how long these last, if I don't get more than a year, next gun will be a Steinel.
Ive had a harbor freight heat gun for like 3 years now of on and off use and its been great. coworker on the other hand had one that shot flames out of it rather quickly. id buy another in a heart beat tho.

Snap-on Thursday today. New indexing ratchet in Power Blue. Only one he had with a hard handle so luckily it was the best color lol. Then some new wire strippers for the work box I have the Doyle at home which are good but these are 10x better at least for work. Then a “free” shirt and free box of gloves the gloves they list for $40 a box because he stocked up during the craziness and now he can’t sell them because demand is not as high now. So he gives them away with a purchase of a ratchet lol. Maybe I can sell them for $20 because large is too small for my XL hands lol 😂. Sorry for the crappy pictures lol. Couldn’t get any places where the light wasn’t reflecting off of it. And yes my pliers all look new because it’s in the box and they don’t get used very much as most are duplicates or stuff that doesn’t get used a lot lol. Don’t think I’m not a working man haha. My main pliers that are dirty are in the cart lol 😂.

Where did you pick up that oil pan? If you don't mind.
I purchased it through KC Tool. It’s sturdy, has a nice pour spout, has a place to hold the filter, and it’s made in the Czech Republic. You might be able to find it elsewhere if you search for the product number. I used a discount code for 10% off.

curious to see why you picked up some singles over the gearwrench set of 8-25mm or w/e it is now

I’m in the UK, where Gearwrench branded stuff isn’t readily available :( which is a shame, the bluepoint branded gearwrench stuff I have is excellent.

That left me with no great options, the Mac expert set which is good, but my Mac guy has packed it in and Mac warranty is a nightmare without the truck, an incomplete Sealey set, which is usually gearwrench quality but the incomplete sizing didn’t work for me, or various rebrands of a complete set such as Britool Hallmark, but I couldn’t get any warranty information on them.

So I bit the bullet and ordered the snap on ones that I needed.

Harry Epstein made good on my missing pliers. Sent me a new pair. Interesting... THEY wrapped the bag with packing tape this time and the ONE part of the bag not covered in tape was ripped by the blister pack the pliers was in. Now we know why their prior packaging was not successful.

I had one of those pliers...........I believe it landed in the garden area at our last residence.......

Those wire strippers are my favorites. Just make sure you got the 14-24 gauge and not the 12-20. I didn't pay attention and had to swap them the next week.

HaHaHa! I used mine the other day, as a bottle opener. (First thing they did well...)
Thank goodness you guys said something. No disrespect to the original robo grip pliers poster but those pliers are horrible. I was begging to wonder what all the excitement was about 😂. I am a vintage craftsman collector and another friend and I have a running joke about never finding the good old stuff but you can always find a ton of those pliers when you least want them.

Maybe all you guys are using them wrong. I have the rubber boots on the tips and use them to hold things from slipping around without marring the workpiece. I used them most recently... grabbing a chromed end on a bathroom fixture. As I said... I own 5. they have a purpose. If you use them for something they are NOT intended... sure they don't work well. I have well over 100 pliers and rarely use the normal slip-joint pliers of olden days... mostly because each plier has it's job. Generic is not a thing for me.

Today I plan on using the larger Robo-Grips with rubber ends to spin the refrigerator cap holding the ice machine filter. Any other plier will for sure crush the plastic. I can't think of another way/tool to add torque in spinning that thing.

Come to think of it... I have never used them without the rubber tips... perhaps that's everyones issue. Put rubbers on your tools if they don't work well ... it may shock you.

Rubber tips on mine are worn through, not much "protection". Any ideas on where to get new ones?

I bought several bags of them at sears when they went out of business. I have looked online and Harry Epstein sells the correct tips for the 10" Robogrip... I think it's a 2 pack for $2. They are in my cart for my next order. But I still have a few dozen of the NOS versions.

To be honest. If your rubber tips are worn through... you are not using the pliers correctly. You don't use the pliers with the rubber for things that are gnarly... you only use the tips to protect what you are holding on to. I know many just grab whatever tool that is close and whale on whatever. I pick the right tool and use it as it is intended. They have never failed me.

Sorry for the rant... I just looked I have 10 pairs of gold protective tips left from about 20 pairs I bought over the last 40 years. I use these pliers weekly for some task. It's not a swiss army knife pair of pliers... it's for specific tasks.

Next time a tool doesn't do what you wanted it to do... ask yourself... "am I using the correct tool correctly?" "But I wanted it to work because of...." should not be an answer.

Guess that I don't know my own strength! Pliers work just fine, just the teeth have started to poke through the tips and after 20 plus years of ownership, I can't complain.

My Matco 4 inch long nose locking pliers finally came in. They were on back order. Not sure who makes these for Matco but they feel nice. Made in Taiwan. I think my pliers collection is most of the way complete and believe me I’ve used every pair of pliers I own for something and know a few jobs where these will do wonders. The next thing I will be upgrading will be my last pliers purchase for awhile and that’s my extra long bent and straight long nose ones. Currently have the Pittsburgh ones which are all bent up and hurt my hands to use because they flex so much. Probably will buy the Snap-on when I get the balance cleared so I’m not in debt anymore or at least lowered a bit lol.

Also wanted to mention that since my last post about the chrome peeling on the Malco made Snap-on ones. The issue came back on another pair of them on Friday. I was taking out a rounded off drain plug and I look at the pliers afterwards and the chrome on the tip and sides was peeling. This was a different set from the 4 pairs of them that I own. Really disappointed by that. Guess chrome locking pliers are not a good idea. I’ll probably dig out my tried and true Irwin or Peterson USA ones from the home toolbox and take them to work. I hate having to do that but nothing worse than being cut or nicked by peeling chrome. I read on some other forums that the chrome peel is a common issue so I hope they can fix it and recall all of these pliers.

I havent heard about this chrome peel issue. Thanks for the warning. Im curious how widespread the problem is. I was tempted to buy some, but have held off due to cost. I’ll keep rocking my Petersens.

Powerprobe3 came in from Amazon - ordered it when price dropped to $104 last week. I had $60 in points to use, so total out of pocket was $40 and change for this purchase. Can’t complain!

I just discovered the powerprobe yesterday when I was watching a video while trying to diagnose a fan issue with my daughters car. I never heard or knew it existed until yesterday. It’s funny, now this is the second time I’ve seen it in two days. I’m wondering if I should get one, my multimeter does the same thing minus adding power. Or am I missing something, is it worth getting?
