I understand that Liftmaster caters to professionals for professional installations…

But, if one were to purchase a Liftmaster and install it themselves, would Liftmaster still stand behind their product?

Or is it just better to order a Chamberlain?

Yes, the same as Chamberlain. It includes install instructions with the until and I have never read in there that they will void any warranty if not installed by a professional.

I had to warranty a Genie a couple of times and they sent the parts directly to me with instructions on how to replace them. Does LM or Chamb do the same? I have not needed warranty work done on the 2 LMs I have but I believe there have been several folks on here that have been sent parts to replace LM broken parts.

LM had no qualms about supplying replacement parts to me under warranty. I'm not a "licensed Liftmaster installation expert". 😁

When my doors went in, the "professional" installers left a huge amount of slack in the manual operator chains so the chains would occasionally jump a cog on the sprockets. So I opted to do DIY on the powered operator installs. Far less chance of a warranty call on equipment that has been properly installed, and Liftmaster does not try to evade warranty obligation simply because you didnt hire an installer.
