Ok, hope you all can provide me with some much need advice. I just installed polycuramine in my garage and also on the exterior lip of the garage floor. Unfortunately, I just realized that Rustoleum’s top coat for Rocksolid is not for external use. I want a exterior clear top coat that is UV resistant and compatible (2 part I think) with the Rustoleum’s Rock solid flooring system. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brando

No idea, reach out to the folks at rustoleum, most of the time they have some really smart folks there that'll help. Euclid was real helpful to me on my flooring sealant.

Good luck

Hello Brando. The Rust-Oleum polycuramine color coat is not for outdoor use either. They are the same product. The color coat is just a tinted version of the clear coat. Did you apply that out past the door on the apron as well?

Shea,

So I applied the color coat passed the door, so it is inside and outside (about 8 inches passed the garage door). I put the clear coat over the color just in the garage only. My hope was that I could find a up resistant clear top coat for the outside.

A U.V. stable clear coat will not stop U.V. rays from reaching the color coat. The color coat will still amber and the clear coat will not.

Shea is spot on. Even a UV protected clear will only prevent the CLEAR from yellowing, but it doesn't prevent the sun/UV from passing through it and discoloring what is under it. Our recommendation would be to live with it until it bothers you and then get locally an enamel that is color matched and coat over it. Alternately grind it off and leave bare as aprons should be when coating a garage.

Our pleasure. It’s a common misconception that a UV stable clear topcoat will protect what is under it which it won’t. Glad we could assist.
